Does alcohol kill mites and mite eggs?

Before you ask, no I do not intend to use any kind of alcohol on my plants. I have a bad spider mite problem and they seemed to get everywhere So I trashed my plants and started fresh. I cleaned my equipment with soap and water but there are certain things I couldn't clean like the lights, floors etc.

Will cleaning these things with alcohol kill any mites or eggs that remain behind?
I know that bleach may work but it leaves a residue and isn't friendly to all surfaces so I'd rather not use it.

I have used rubbing alcohol for scale insects on Azalea. Scale is gone. No harm done to leaf tissue.

i used a half alcohol water mixture in a spray bottle... It does kill the mites and doesnt harm the plant, read it on a google search before trying it... not sure about the eggs though

Wow you guys really use it on your plants? I've never heard that before. I had not intended it use it that way but to hear you all talk about it, I might give it a go. I would just be concerned it might harm the plant. But I guess it would evaporate relatively quickly especially with the fan blowing over it. I mainly wanted to know if I wiped down the equipment (lights, table etc...) would it eradicate the remaining mites and eggs. But if it works directly on the plants, hey, what the hell! It's not messy and doesn't leave a smell or residue after it evaporates.
