Does All Aluminum Create Hot Spots?

I know aluminum foil does create hot spots but I am wondering if i can use actual aluminum sheets to reflect light?

Sure but you would need to polish it to a very shiny finish. Are you going to make a reflector with it? I have used aluminum foil to line the walls with, the only thing is try not to get large kinks and bends in it..thats what focuses the light on specific areas and makes the so called hot spots. You can also take the foil and wad it up and unfold it several times and get a almost hammered dimpled effect that will diffuse the light just fine and it looks good also lol. Actually works very well.

Aluminum absorbs heat so if you lined your walls with it, you will definitly have some heat problems to deal with.

Thanks for the advice! I was going to open up a piece of 4" duct to make a reflector just for above my lights. will this cause any heat problems?

Aluuminum foil wont damage your plants (I have used it along time back).
I grow in a full mirror box an have no heat reflection issues.
I believe its a wifes tale.

I go for max reflection.
