Does anyone know?

Two questions actually...

1. Is this normal? My seedlings are losing their first leaves... not the proper leaves but the baby starter leaves... what are they called? cotylendon leaves or something? I dunno... anyway - they're dying... the first proper leaves look fine though...

2. Germination successful... have potted seed and am now waiting... i intend to wait until seedling has sprouted between 8-10 cm before subjecting to grow lights but... what kind of light do they need before then? normal house light? darkness? what? Why will no-one tell me!!! AAAaaaaggh HELP!!!!

before my guys came out of the ground, i had a 4 foot floro hanging above on 24/7. why not right?

my plants little leaves like that also died, i think its normal but im a noob, my plants are okay now.

thanks russ... it's bizarre cos my seed instructions say to leave them in light but not in direct sunlight until they are about 10cm...

well a floro tube is pretty mild compared to sunlight

true... will it make it any weaker if it's kept in darkness for the first 10cm as i'm reading mixed views....

Direct sunlight is different than direct light. Depending on what light your useing you might want to move it closer, just make sure it doesnt burn your plant. Thats my advice any way.

The young plants are still very delicate. Therefore you should not place them in direct sunlight or just below a 400 Watt lamp. This might cause burning. You want indirect light.

What about a window sill? In a warm house, maybe between 15-20°?

Bear in mind I'm a newbie in UK... and it's winter here!

yeah all my plants use the straw now however i think they dont need them anymore but im not going to sscrew with them
