Does BHO NEED vacuum?

Hi guys

So i would love to try and make some more BHO from my less attractive bud.
I tried doing a little run this way:

1/2 l. coke bottle. Drilled 3 holes in the lid and 1 in the bottom. Put a piece of cotton into the lid as a filter but seems like gas went right through giving too little result.

So do i need to vacuum the BHO in order to make it free from butane? The little amber thing i got smelled fantastic - could even smell Jack Herer still.

You don't need it, i don't use it.. some people do. I've personally never done it cause im lazy but im pretty sure it does make it taste somewhat better.

i would use a steel pipe or order a bho extractor from ebay you dont wanna be using plastic when using butane very nasty imo...i gotta mini glass one and its awsome

I thought a food grade coke bottle would be ok, but will look into getting a glass pipe. But still my question goes on.. how important is the vacuum? The stuff i made smelled great - GREAT! and i couldn't smell any gas and stuff melted perfectly.
