Does layering work in its most primitive form?

Here is a pic of my revegging plant (found this stray in my yard about the size of a pencil with tiny white hairs forming)

The other pic is of a low branch I just stuck the bottle full of water and earth under it, cover with a touch of soil and a rock to hold it in place.

I have done this kind of cloning on other plants and I tried looking for references to it but all I find is "clones from cutting" or some labor involved "air layering". Was wondering if anyone knew if this works with weed as it seems the least likely to fail..as in if it doesn't root its still a branch on my plant and not a dead clone.

Shit I hope so, that’s pretty dope I can’t say I’ve ever seen that technique, but if it works for other plants it can definitely work for the ganj. Post updates if u can that’s pretty cool.
