So ive always renounced the defoliators that say chopping leaves to get light to buds is bullshit.

However I have a vertical scrog with maybe 2 inches of canopy, a CMH at around 12 inches away, and I can categorically say the buds which are exposed to the light have matured and those behind leaves are still small and shooting pistills.
I didn't expect this at all, is this common? I honestly thought the canopy penetration would make my buds mature evenly.
