Don't be afraid of cloning!

I just had 6 cuttings sprout roots in 5 days without any cloning gel or powder.

I did these sooooo ghetto too.

I had a six spot DWC tub open up and also a few plants that are over-achieving taking up a little too much space, so I took 4 cuttings from one and two from another with a dirty pair of scissors. I made the cuts at 45deg. angles and then notched the lower part with a sharp knife.

All I did after that was put them directly into net-pots and filled them with hydroton.

This is getting too easy... I'm gonna have to find a supplemental hobby now!

Suggestions?

any pics?.

some strains are easy to clone.

you wouldnt get away with that with most strains.
what strain are you cloning.

I heard you can store clones in a moist towell in your refridgerator for up to 3 weeks. That seems pretty amazing. And using willow bark as rooting hormone works. But just putting them in medium without any hormone and root gorw in a few days!? What the hell is the strain?

cut mine with stanley knife dipped in rooting gel , into rockwall all fine...

was expecting it to be much harder myself

My big Buddha cheese and my mango clone fast and easy. I swear I could clone them in piss and get roots. My white widow on the other hand is a bitch and a half. I get maybe 10% with my aero cloner, i tried many ways and that is the best I've gotten.

Bagseed. No idea what it is, but it is a very strong plant.

Sorry, no pics, I choose not to post any for good reason. But trust me, I have no reason to lie. I'm just trying to let everyone know that cloning doesn't have to be scary!

Yup!
Good advice!
I've done it with great success in the past...
Sort of a "Root or Die" strategy.... most will live if the Ph is right...
Plain water so you don't burn the "rootlings" and just be patient...
I've also heard mixed reviews about lighting...
Mine get indirect light 24/7....

The ones on my new garden are on intense light 18/6 ... we'll see how that works...

Anyway...

I agree, Cloning does not have to be scary... and they are mature when rooted so you can bud them small and keep the to the scale desired...

Till next time...

Be Well...

I bought a plastic tray for $1 and the clear hood to go with it for $4. I put as many as 15 cuts in rockwool with no rooting hormone and keep the rockwool wet, probably water every 3 days, and spray the leaves with fresh water every am and pm and keep under 80 watt soft flourescent light on 24 hours with a cup of water inside the container with cuts. Two weeks later 90% to 100% success.. very simple.

Ok, you asked for 'em, here they are.

These clones were taken on 8/17/08, 17 days ago.
