Drying bubble hash in a food dehydrator?

What's the general concensus on doing it? My dehydrator is temp controlled

Thats a good question . Im curious myself but thinking that the heat is an issue ?

People dry bubble with freeze dryers. I would think the heat wouldn't be ideal. but the cost is prohibatively expencive.
if your going to try anything, try a het mat, ed rhosenthile recomends them for drying bubble IIRC

No. Ideal temp Is 50° @30-40% RH.

You have to decarb thc activate it and that takes lots more heat than my dehydrator can push, 250f for 45 minutes vs 100f for a few hrs. I'd really doubt if it sitting at 100 f for a few hours would hurt it ?

I think the reasoning behind the low and slow approach to drying bubble hash is to protect it from terpene loss. Too high of heat will do that. It wont hurt it, just might not be as tasty.

Yeah I was wondering if terps had anything to do with it, I'm going to make my own live rosin carts and terp profile is right up there with importance of thc, low and slow takes forever but if a short cut will cost quality then i'll have patience and do it to the best of my abilities ... but short of buying an outrageous freeze dryer

I feel ya. I'd love to have a freeze dryer but cost and current engineering prevents me from buying one. (I don't like the oil filled pumps and would opt for the more expensive oil-less model.)

I'm able to dry my hash in a vacant building in the winter right at 50° and 30-40% rh. It's forced air heat which naturally drys out the air. When i dry bud, I need to add humidifiers, but for hash, it's the perfect rh. I usually can dry 7-10grams in 48hours this way but also hand press and hot bottle roll the hash after the 48hr dry, which more than likely dries it a bit more.
