Drying buds outdoors.......

When drying buds, I keep reading that they need to be kept in dark.
My question.....does it mean to keep them *ONLY* out of UV sunlight? Since it's the UV light that degrades THC? Or do they also must be in darkness?
I'm questioning whether even the ambient lights degrade THC, and not just the direct sunlight?(I suspect they won't).
I mean....didn't they use to dry buds outdoors naturally long time ago, in shade outdoors?
I live in an area where humidity and temperature are ideal for drying outdoors.
If anyone has experience drying outdoors, I would appreciate some insights.

I have done it here in maine far from ideal but it worked fine we use tarps to keep rain an dew off the bud.

I've done it under tarps too. Any kind of hard roof is better than tarps just because of the pop effect in the wind. I've used old cars and trucks. You just need to leave the windows down enough to get some airflow.

I know I will be accused of apostasy for saying this, but I am not 100 percent convinced that drying flowers in sunlight will ruin them. The reason being that I read up on how hashish has been made for centuries in countries like Lebanon and Morocco, and the growers in those places allow the flowers to dry in the sun. At least a fair number of them do, according to what I have read. However, out of an abundance of caution I usually dry mine in the shade or indoors out of sunlight.

Interesting.....Yeah, I DO think that we humans overthink things. I see it especially among cannabis growers.
In my experience... in my "forest method" veggie garden, the plants that I don't treat like babies, grow the strongest.

Back about the time of paraquat, I saw a PBS documentary on the weed market. The growers down in Mexico would pile the stalks on the ground, turning the pile a few times a day using wooden potato rake looking things. After a couple three days, they hung them below a brush arbor. You'd get run out of the county for doing something like that now.
