Drying question

I know I didn't leave my buds hanging a long time. They were drying for 4 days after the fourth day I put them in mason jars.i opened the jar today and notice the buds all stuck compacted together. They felt a little moist so I put them in paper bags. Question is how long would I have to leave them in paper bags for? Sorry for long thread..

That's not long. You should see my posts...:)

It is a problem. Are you not shaking vigorously every day? That's to keep from clumping.

And I ruined several ounces to mold just like that. It really depends on humidity. I have very low humidity, year round.

Great for flowers. But, when I cure, it seems like the outer leaves dry and I am fooled into jarring too soon.

So, how to measure? First we are hanging the plant for only one reason, to let the stem moisture slow down the process.

1) Stem test

Stem should be woody feeling but bends and doesn't snap. If we go too far here, that is bad also. Too dry and that is irrecoverably since it's too dry on the inside of the stems and can't cure from the inside where we need the cure for taste.

2) Humidity test

Dial it in by testing in a paper bag. When ready to jar, put all the flower pods into a paper bag and let it sit for an hr, shake it a few times, in process. Use an RH meter to see if you are under 70%.

I get to below 70% but above 55% relative humidiy before I will jar. Then shake and smell everyday for anything unusual. You can tell. It has to be dumped back into the bag and measured for humidity, again.

I've had them in paper bags for 24 hrs. They feel dry on the outside but sill moist On The inside. That's why the buds stick together. Yes I have been shaking the jar but right now they are in bags.. I think I'm going to leave them In The bags for another 24
