Drying question

Hello. I have had my buds hanging in a closet with about 23 degrees celcius and 10-20 %RH for about 48 hours. I will not buy a humidifier. Im broke... :P

Anyhow. Im guessing this is the reason why it is already dry as hell and im wondering if I should cure it now or wait for 7 days like recommended. I Also want to ask, excatly what part is it that should snap when ready. The main big stem or the branches that are the buds are hanging from?

Whats the hurry ! another week minimum, even include a pot water water to slow it down some? ....snap the stalk 2-4 inches south of the bud/flower if it snaps distinctly ...then you are doing well, if not, another few days please

That's a pretty low RH and after a couple days at that level they will probably already be overdried and harsh.

Get them in plastic or glass ASAP. Turkey roasting bags are great.

Yes that's what im suspecting.By glass, you mean glass jar? Like start curing them?

Well the hurry like aimaim mentioned, is that it might be harsh and overdried. Yes I have a glass of water under. And the branch already after 2 days is snaping pretty hard with ease

Next time buy a humidifier and keep the room cool and dark...55°F to 65°F is good and an RH% of 55% to 65%.

You want a nice long and even dry.I defoliate and hang plants whole for 5-7 days, then I cut to individual branches and keep hanging for an additional 3-7 days as needed, then a dry trim (for BHO) as it retains more smell/taste and allows for a nice slow and even dry aswell as protecting the trichomes.

Then paper bag the buds to sweat and when at the right and even mousture content I jar them up with a mini hygrometer and burp until the RH% in the jar stays at a steady 60% to 65%

It is tough to do the drying/curing process correctly when relying on ambient conditions. If you won't buy a humidifier you can only tweak a few things. With the low humidity I've found that my bud is still damp after 2 days and crispy by the next day. One thing we can tweak is to re-hydrate. This is when you put crispy bud in a sealed container ( a big baggie) with a slice of orange. Seal and 'fridge for 12-24 hours. The crispy bud will absorb some of the orange essence if you seal the baggie. Sealing the baggie (curing) forces everything in the baggie to even out the moisture. So it's a 2-step process. Drying gets rid of most all the moisture and sealing distributes the remaining water throughout the product. Without curing we would end up with small crispy nugs and large damp buds. The snapping you asked about refers to the goal of testing product dryness by bending a small toothpick sized branch. BigSteve.
