Ducting

Is it possible this white plastic ducting is letting some smell through? I’ve never had a carbon filter remove all the odour. I’ve been through approximately 5-6 different sizes and brands over the years. I just realized maybe I should rip that out and use tin. IMG_9438.jpeg

It might be the ducting but I guess you would feel it if you have some leaks.
Where exactly do you smell it? inside or outside the tent?

Sure, its very possible. Most flexible types of ducting wear out over time, and eventually need to be replaced. The cheap flexible mylar ducting gets so many pinholes eventually, and hard to tell unless you beam a light into it..

Even the vinyl/plastic kind is constantly being blown at by fans, rippling around while pushing the material into the metal wire frame, so you can't expect it to last forever. Even a few little rips or tears is enough to suck some of the smell through, especially from inside the tent area.

Semi rigid ducting leading all the way from the filter to outside the tent should fix that problem, or from having any happy little accidents that might puncture it..

That's just dryer hose.
It's possible it's gas permeable.

Get some proper duct and if it's a major issue add an inline filter too
Unless your moving house lots why do people not hard duct stuff properly those crappy plastic things suck just get some spiral and some varying bends and some duct sealant and your good only use the Flexi duct stuff where you have to imo

Got some better ducting, going to go back and grab some aluminum tape and tape up all the fittings. This shit is horrible to work with by the way lol

Make sure you’re using a compatible fan/filter, that are rated for the same CFM flow rate. Too little contact time with the filter media and you’re not getting a good “scrub”. Also, you’ll need more scrubbing power if you’re exhausting your air vs recirculating. Phenos matter too - some plants will challenge even the best filters.

Yeah the stankasouras pheno I’ve been running for a couple years is very pungent,
I’ve often wondered if that’s the reason my filters never work so great.
