DWC How much does a 2 foot plant drink

obviously am new to this wanting to know how much a 1-2 foot plant will drink as I only have a 10L res and don't want it to run out. Cheers

Depends on environment, heat, humidity, light intensity all have an effect. And 1-2ft is a huge range. A 2ft plant could drink 2-3 times as much as a 1 footer, if not more. I've seen 4+litres a day on ~2ft sized plants under a 600W upper 70's temps 50-60% humidity. I've had a 30L dwc drained by 1 plant in 4 days. More light or heat, or lower humidity will increase the uptake rates.

Once it start really taking off, Mix up 20-25L at a time and keep the extra in a bucket with air. Use it to top up between change outs.

Thanks for the response. I did assume it would be how long is a piece of string. I'm using a CFL and temps are pretty low. I'll just check it daily. I have a standby 10L container I should get another.

Like weekfreak said, it depends on too many things to say, like he said depending on the factors a plant can drink up to 7L+ a day but it could also drink much less. I'd get a bigger bucket if possible but it will work, it'll just become annoying after awhile having to fill it constantly when the plant is in it's heavy drinking stage. Also keep in mind to not plan any holidays where you'll be away for a couple days because you'll need to stay on top of filling your res. Those are kinda the negatives of a smaller res, the positive is really just taking advantage of growing in a smaller space. With a smaller res it will keep the plant smaller because it won't allow the roots to get too big so if space is your kicker it will aid there as well.
