I have been growing for little under a year soil and nft.decided to try out dwc got 2 x 21 litre oxypots
i bought high powered air pump with 4 way manifold each bucket has 2 x 4"round air stones
using advanced nurients sensi grow/bloom and 14/15 boost.put 2 x digital water thermometers to monitor bucket water temps which were at 23/27 but now got them down to 22.5/23.0
growing strawberry cheese from my own clones that were rooted fully using 40ml a/b grow now same with the bloom and 10ml boost 1 a week when change water
from the of i have had really slow growth during veg a bit better during flower which is coming to the end of first week
plant has always looked a bit pale not lush as would have expected
root system had a nice sized ball in water but not a lot coming out the mesh basket if you get what a mean
p.h is around 5.7 as acording to my colour chart as using liquid p.h kit
plant only grew 8" in 3 weeks any help in speeding up growth and getting a healther colour would be gratefull
forgot had a isssue with grow room temp was all over the place ranging from 78/90 which now is a steady 80

I am by no means an expert as I am on my first grow. With that out of the way, How is your EC/PPM/TDS? Your answer could be in stabilizing the temps (which it sounds like you've done) and having EC/PPM that your plant likes. I've read that with higher temps that introducing some C02 helps the plants cope with the higher temps

Looks like they are stained with nutes.. do you flush anytime in flower. I do mine 2 times in flower when i do they are pearly white when I dont they look like yours. It does effect the uptake and growth for sure, you need to make sure you are using right EC and that they are flushed from accumulating deposits.

I have a journal here that could provide a lot of insight. Specifically look at My DIY 21st Century Flood and Drain, which provides explosive growth and budding

one trick i have found for getting great high mass root systems is to run your water levels a little lower in veg and keep dropping them as the roots reach them, the splash of the bubbles will keep them watered if you adjust the height right. this causes the plant to reach out with the roots trying to reach the water, it will slow the growth slightly but for me an extra day or 3 on veg is no big deal. (be careful not to let your roots dry out as you lower the water level) then when its flower time you can fill your res to normal level and submerge the roots to get extream growth in flower with heavy bud production on a smaller plant.

Thanks roach for the explanation..agreed not all is complicated..just wish there was a totally easy way. Almost 4 months work for all males was pretty devastating.
JUSTIN..WONT THAT HURT THE ROOTS? Mine did fine in the pretzel container. Even use a maxwell house plastic ciffee container

it can if done incorrectly, but even then its not devastating. If you let the upper regions of the roots dry out while the water level is low in late veg they will turn brown, die and dirty up your res when you switch to flower but even then it will have little effect on the giant root mass you now have submerged in the water (the main roots will not dry up or die as long as there ends are still wet)

and yes you are absolutely right, you can make a functional dwc in nearly any container that will hold water =), just like you can drive/ride anything with wheels but you still get to choose weather you want a BMW or a wheel barrow to travel in. if you catch my drift.

if you got it all worked out great, i was just offering some advice on tactics i use on plants that are slow to root.

one thing i learned just recently was a bad idea is trying to repot in net pots, i had a plant in a 5" and it was getting to big so i just took pot, roots, and all and put then into a 8" net pot with more hydroton, the roots grew thru the second pot fine but never really made much of a root mass, i assume this is dew to the huge root mass now sitting in the bottom of the 8" pot and still getting water from the drip system thus not needing to reach out for water to much. either way i wont be doing it again and dont recommend anyone else does either. (seems like a no brainier i know)

Justin I appreciate all feedback...never personal dude..never...i was wondering about the netpot thing myself. the 3" i've been using appear in bad shape. I am trying to use them a 2nd time but the damn roots are a b..ch to clean out without breakin the nets. I ws debating on trying to create net pots but they didn't turn out too good. I won't even post those pics..they're terrible looking. Thanks for the tips..always can use more! Be eZe
