Early flower, Yellowing on middle leaves

2 full weeks of flower completed. Got a couple issues. 3 of 4 plants are yellowing.

FFOF. Temps are 61F - 81F. 35%-70%. LEC 315w about 36inches away. only done two feedings. But out a qt of worm castings at transplant per each 5gal pot.

I got one plant thats looking rough. Back right. I DEFOLIATED on day 1 of flower and it hasnt recovered. Its not really drinking.

The other 2 are vigorous and healthy. Jjust got some yellowing on the inner and center leaves. Worried ibmight right out of leaf by harvest?

Im assuming this is a Nute decificiency. Or Maybe even N toxicity due to Wc?

The yellowing is worse than the pics show. But it gives an idea on where the yellowing is.

Any advice?

They're deficient. Feed them. And growing with LED without a way of measuring light intensity is the ultimate guessing game.

You should still measure light intensity unless the cuck below is ready to set them for you.

He's in ffof soil and it's obviously depleted it's nitrogen and is in serious need of some food. Either that or your not keeping your pots at the right moisture level and aren't able to get the nutrients out of your soil.
Ffof is only good for maybe a month of just water, and that time can vary from bag to bag.looks like they are in big pots though, how long have they been in those pots?
And how often you water them? Are you waiting till they are super dry?

JustBlazin, thanks for response. I repotted to 5gal 31 days ago, FFOF with 1 qt of worm castings. On December 30 (17 days ago I switched to flower) and gave my plants the minimum dose of nutrients on two feedings. About every 8 or 9 days I am feeding.

The plant that is has done the poorest has only been fed once, 9 days ago with 1 gallon of water/feed and but it is not drinking. Pot is still heavy. In fact the two others which I just fed two days ago are lighter than the plant I feed 9 days ago...that is the real yellow one in the back.

I have had watering problems for most of this grow, but believe I am dialed in now. And personally yes- these plants look Nitrogen depleted.

But i dunno how to get Nitrogen into a plant that is not drinking-especially when I added 1 qt of WC 30 days ago. Seems weird that they are N depleted.

Hey HOTROD, how are you ? I am growing on LEC 315W, and recently started using a lux meter to dial in my light distance. Crazy how much intensity comes off this 315W. And how much it can change from top of plant to bottom.

As far as Nitrogen depletion and correction, what will the top dressing do for me here? Just provide more N?

and if I top dress, do I water afterwards? Even on the plant that is not drinking (back right).


Thanks for the responses. My hunch tells me that this is a watering issue on one plant and too low nutrition on the other. I hope I can salvage the back right plant which is Bubba Tonic.

@Budzbuddha can explain. But basically it refreshes your OF. Nitrogen is the most quickly absorbed nutrient. Why you see the results quickly good or bad. It's also the most quickly depleted. But your other nutrients in the OF are also being depleted. They just don't show like nitrogen.

Cool so if I top dress FFOF, should I water afterwards? or maybe wait on @Budzbuddah to advise?

I'm heard WC are released slowly...so assuming top dressing with them is no good?

I believe he top dresses with it and waters it in. Not speaking for him but I've seen him comment that more than a few times. Take a barbecue skewer and really tear the medium up. Pierce it everywhere including under the plant. All the way to the bottom. Do this between feedings every time. Adjust pH within range and use the proper amount of liquid each time. At least 20%-25% of container volume. Then water by weight. Lifting the container. But the aeration will really help. You'll see.

I will do that tearing up the medium- I saw you advise that a few days ago and plant to continue doing that.

And I also have taken note that the watering recommendation per 5gal pot (1.5-2gals) will be about right. I have been using 1 gallon but can see that soon I will need more.

Ok waterproof. I am dialing that in this grow too! Been running my exhaust during off hours. This range mentioned is an improvement though- during Veg my humidity was 15% - 35%. Plants did not like it, nor did the first grow which also included temps in the 90s.
 
61F at night is chilly enough to cause my plants issues like slowing way down drinking. I try to maintain above 65 and 68-70 is better still.

On a concrete floor I always now have some kind of insulation between the floor and the pots more than the tent fabric. Then a heater in the room where intake is. Along with a heater I’ve put a clone heat mat on the floor of the tent right in the middle. Careful with this. Set the therm probe under one of the pots CLOSEST to the mat and set to 70. It’ll keep that floor from conducting heat away.

Be careful to watch that probe if you do this. If it gets knocked loose you could easily cook your plants. Make sure it’s feeling the heat quickly from the mat. This is literally just to keep the floor from getting so cold it conducts heat away.

The lighter green does look hungry to me and I would be adding more stuff. I haven’t done top dressing in a while but I remember it lasting no more than 3 weeks so a good 30 days since they should be wanting more now.

Thanks for your response. So you would top dress Soil AND WC or just soil?
As far as feeding my pots are not drinking, kinda like you said- I have a pretty cool environment. Been 63F the past few days. So Would you advise feeding them now or waiting a few days for the pants to dry out?

So he has tiny small plant in 5 galons of ocean forest and cup of of ewc in each pot and you saying its nitrogen deficient? You have absolutely no shine about growing. You are only parroting the net giving bullshit advices leading ppl burn their plants to the crap. The schwag you produce must be the same shit as you are. I understand you have nothing to do so living here on RIU is basicaly your only entertainment in life. But there are also other sections where you can satisfy your needs without causing problems to other growers.

Someone can grow for “decades” and still produce schwag which somebody else would not even smoke. Level of experience is not determined by time spending or struggling to grow plants, but this you most likely already know…
