what kind of earth and fertilizer should i use ?

You have a multitude of choices for both soil and nutes. For soils you could go with a premixed soil like Fox Farm's Ocean Forest or you can mix your own. I use a Mixture of peat moss, worm castings, vermiculite, perlite, and a very small amount of desert bat guano, been working for me so far. For nutes there is a plethora of companies and routes you can go. You need to ask yourself if you want to go organic? Do you want a 1, 2, or 3 part system? Will cost affect your desicion?

Personaly I'm currently using Fox Farms liquid 3 pack which consists of Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom. All 3 together ran me a little less than $50 in total I think.

Do lots of research. This site has a wealth of information, just take some time and look around.
