Eastvale is asking all landlords, property management firms and real estate agents who manage rentals to enroll in the citys business registry.
The push to get everyone associated with rental properties into Eastvales business registry is the citys latest tactic to get a handle on the proliferation of marijuana grow houses in residential neighborhoods of the affluent northwest Riverside County city.
As of Monday, July 8, 21 Eastvale-area homes which were transformed into marijuana grow houses had been busted this year by the Riverside County Sheriffs Department, which also serves as the Eastvale Police Department.
Eastvale City Attorney John Cavanaugh said Tuesday, July 9, that in August he plans to introduce a rental inspection ordinance that would require landlords and property managers to conduct inspections to assure that properties are rented out appropriately and there is no illicit activity by tenants.
