On Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at about 8:30 PM, firefighters from the city of Eastvale Fire Department, responded to a house fire in the 7700 block of Stonegate Drive.
After extinguishing the fire, the fire fighters entered the location and determined that the residence was unoccupied. During their safety check of the residence, the fire fighters discovered what appeared to be a large-scale marijuana cultivation operation and immediately notified the Eastvale Police Department.
Officers from the Eastvale Police Department confirmed that a marijuana cultivation operation existed and secured the residence for the arrival of Eastvale investigators.
On Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 1:30 PM, investigators assigned to the city of Eastvale, authored and served a search warrant for the residence. Once inside the location, investigators discovered the residence had been modified for the sole purpose of cultivating and processing marijuana for sales. Investigators seized 596 marijuana plants and approximately 3½ pounds of processed marijuana.
Additionally, electricity was being bypassed around the meter, which, according to the firefighters, caused the fire resulting in thousands of dollars in structural damage to the residence.
