EASTVALE: Two Busts of Indoor Pot Farms Net More Than 1,500 Marijuana Plants

A search warrant was first served at about 3:30 p.m. Friday at a home in the 12000 block of Mississippi Drive (map), which had been wired to steal up to $5,000 per month in electricity to power the pot-growing operation.


Authorities seized 1,266 pot plants, as shown below, at that home, which had been “modified for the sole purpose of cultivating and processing marijuana for sales,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Andrew Elia said in a news release.


No one was arrested at that home, which was unoccupied.


About four miles to the southwest and 2 1/2 hours later, deputies found another large grow operation in the 14400 block of Saline Drive (map), Sgt. Justin Rowan said in a news release.


Two men in their two 20s were detained at the home, where authorities found pot and mushrooms, along with a evidence of a "dangerous Butane-extraction process" used to produce concentrated pot.

Stealing power will get you busted. You might as well put up a sign that says "Marijuana Grow House".

Just waiting for the day where you will have to get a permit for butane...... That's okay. We don't NEED butane. ;)

For real... i'd be worried my landlord is gonna see all this and decide to inspect just in case... but like someone said, these are probably large ops with many houses and the expect some to get taken down...

All this means is that the grow op people are going to have to BUY the houses at depressed prices (even lower once the rental market crashes) -- then there's no issue as long as you don't steal electric... shit maybe the rentals are just the decoys...

All those thousands and thousands of bucks spent on everything from grow equipment to rent to nutes but they can't shell out another 2-3 grand for electricity? All that $$$ just thrown away. I bet the light bill ain't looking to high now is it?

stealing power will get u busted just has fast has paying a 3500 dollar a month electric bill will... if ur gonna go big its best to steal power.... or get a diesel generator.... solar panels not so feasible... how many solar panels u think ur gonna need for a 15-20 light show...

That's not necessarily true.. I know someone who averages like 3800 a month in power and has been paying it on time for 3 years now with no problem... I'm pretty sure the light company knows what's up but as long as he pays it in time they could care less.. But then again it's not grown in a house...maybe that's the difference..

There are probably 1000's of grow houses in the inland empire that have no issues...because they pay for electricity. If you haven't noticed the trend yet...the only ones being busted are the ones stealing power.

My buddy has 3000 to 4000 bills every month and he pays on time never a problem. , pay the juice bill and you don't have to be worried about Edison turning in a paying customer, steal and they figure it out quickly and you get popped.

thats right. you can have legitimate reasons to need that much power, therefor they can't get a warrant. But they know when your stealing and that gets a warrant
