Is that enough room for 6 plants? How easy are these systems to keep up? What all do you have to do to keep the nutes right in the water? Thanks for your help.

they would be very tight if you planned on using that from start to finish. like VERY TIGHT. using that you would prob want to do some serious LSTing and/or SCROGing.
You would also need to buy a TDS meter and a PH meter. I would recommend using the lucas formula for first time hydro. google ask lucas or lucas formula.

some hydro are faster than others. dwc and aero prob being the fastest. drip and ebb and flow prob the slower of the hydro setups(but all faster than soil)
hydro is a lot less forgiving tho and you need to keep a close eye on your waters ph

in the lucas formula you only change the res when you switch cycles or finish a cycle or if something happens and ppms get too high. when the ppms drop too low you top off the res with more nutrient solution
