edit history - good & bad

I see that the board has been modded to display the editing history of a post. This has its ups and downs. Some ppl may be tempted to edit a post after the fact to mislead; good in that case. Sometimes a post needs to be edited for security reasons... and the history shouldn't show.

Can we sort this in some way?
