efficient water supply technique?

Hey guys, I just wanna post a quick idea that came to my mind to see some opinions from the more experienced people. So it's basically to put like a spiral straw or little pipe with tiny holes in it, in the soil of the plant, in order to make it suck out all the water it needs at any given time and develop a root system entangled in the pipe, no more no less. It's not anything complicated to picture, but I was curious if this would work cuz I kinda wanna avoid hand-watering. Any advice to using a more advanced watering method would be much appreciated, any tips at all Thanks

Just use a fountain pump and a drip system with a bucketful of your favorite nute mix. (or just a drip system from the tap. Its all been done for you)

Just do a wick system. It sounds like basically the same thing.
