Here are my plans for a grow that i am going to start just after Christmas:
Area: approximately 4' x 2' and about 5' high
Strain: Nirvana Big bud, pretty easy to grow, and quite a short plant, I am planning on doing a SCROG, so i think indica is the way to go.
Lighting:
I am going to be using 2 x 125watt EnviroGrow Lamps from here.
Probably both red spectrum, but i might get one blue and one red, what do you think?
I was going to get an HPS but ventilation was a problem as it is such a small enclosed space so i decided i would use CFL's. I am going to make some reflectors by mounting some mylar to dented panels which i will mount above the lights.
x 2 total: £38
Medium:
I'm going for a mix of perlite and peat-moss soil, to start off with. Probably around 8-10 plants, in one gallon pots, to allow for 3 females in the end.
Ventilation:
I'm using a Main axial fan with this spec:
Nominal voltage 230V, 50Hz
Input current 0.12A
Input power 16.0W
Speed 2,600 rpm
Air flow 83.0 cu ft/min
Noise level 42.2dBA
Dimensions 120 x 120 x 38.5mm
Fixing centres 105 x 105mm
Mounting holes 4 x 4.3mm dia.
Weight 530g
£5
With 10 meters of 4inch aluminum ducting and a home made activated carbon filter.
£16
Other Stuff:
I am also going to cover my walls with Black & White Reflective Sheeting, and am planning to water by hand at the moment.
Currently my budget is around about £100; and all the lights, fixtures, fans, ducting, soil, nutes, seeds and perlite is coming in at about £95 which is pretty good i think...
Questions:
Do you think it would be better to go for mixed spectrum or exclusively red/blue, how would this affect the yield?
Has any one used Basement Lighting Hydroponics and Grow Lights UK before and does anyone know of anywhere cheaper?
Is big bud the best choice for an inexperienced grower like me?
Is 250 watts of CFL enough to vegetate 8 plants and then flower until we cut back to 3 females?
Anyone see any holes in my plan or places i should look into?
Thanks in advance!
