In my opinion this will help the U.S. SO much. Especially with the recent murders at the Mexico U.S. border.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (CNN) -- Former presidents of Mexico, Colombia and Brazil called Wednesday for the decriminalization of marijuana for personal use and a change in tactics on the war on drugs, a Spanish news agency said.

While this is welcome , decriminalization is not the answer to to eradicate crime based on the drug, full legalization and regulation is the answer. Although, USA would probably be against that, extending their influence to prevent countries from having more liberal drug policies, they did it with Canada, Jamaica and I am sure they did and/or would institute some trade barrier with South American countries.
