experienced super cropper

This i my first super crop ....question i how long should i let the new tops get before flower ...if the plant wasn't cropped it would be probably 2' but now like 1' with maybe six inch new tops....how big should i let the new ones get

i just veg till i see one of two things, if not both.. either i see preflowers or alternating nodes before i switch to flower, or both..

this tells me that the plant is reaching sexual maturity and can be flowered at any time..
