Fastest way to grow from seed?

I'd like to start a small cabinet grow (my first grow) but the problem is I may be moving around March or April and wouldn't be able to take the plant with me. I've been doing some research on auto flowering strains and heard that they can be grown very quickly, but while looking at some forums I found someone say that you shouldn't rely on genetics for speed, what matters is how you grow it. I've been skeptical about some of the claims of how fast these strains can grow, and decided not to spend the money or take the risk of ordering seeds from another country. I have some seeds here and was wondering if there were any ways of growing from seed to harvest quickly. Also I could use some tips on odor control and cfl lighting. Any kind of help would be wonderful, peace and pot :leaf:

You want fast? Rock them mother fuckers under a 1000 watt Metal Halide from seed, then switch over to 2000 watts HPS. I'm sure others with way more experience will chime in, but this is what works for me.

I've ran two different auto strains, Pineapple Express from Barney's and Norther Lights from Nirvana. The Pineapple express will finish in about 85 days from seed, depending on your grow. The NL is going to take 90+. Both of which are pretty quick in my opinion. The smell from the PE was quiet a bit stronger IME. Visit a seedbank site, like Herbies or Attitude, look at the estimated time from seed, and add a couple weeks, that should give you a decent idea. Also, you should be able to sort your search by grow time on the seed shops' sites. Good Luck!

Thank you both for your feedback :bigjoint: I decided to go ahead and germinate a few seeds I already have, and I plan on building a 4x4x8 "closet" to grow in. I think I'm going to stick with a cfl grow simply because It's cheaper. I heard that you should go with many low wattage cfls rather than one or a few high wattage. I'm looking at getting some 60 watt 6500k cfls, but how many would I need for 2 plants? And what cycle should I start with? Any tips would be very much appreciated :D Peace and Pot :leaf:

Okay, forget what I said about using the seeds I already have. I'm going to order some pineapple express seeds. Any tips on light cycle? From what I hear because it's an autoflower you don't need to change the cycle from veg to flower. What cycle would give the best results?

If speed is important the most important factor to consider is pot size and transplanting schedule. Germinate as usual then put your sprouted auto seedlings into a solo cup of dirt. Remember to poke a couple holes in the bottom of the cup for drainage and to avoid root rot. After 10-14 days in the cup TP into a small, I use 4 ounce pots, for another 2 weeks. Then TP again into a 1-2 gallon final pot. You want speed, not size, so any time spent in a big pot is largely wasted as seedlings grow mostly just roots until the roots hit the inside of their pot. So don't waste weeks waiting for roots to grow out that would support a 6-foot plant. The secret to fast is small, eh? Good luck, BigSteve. PS - do an Attitude search for "60 days" and check out their crop of autos that finish in 60 days.

I would suggest buying some weed and packing your belongings. March isn't too far away especially when you still have to order seeds

I forgot to mention, I'm putting off moving for a bit, so time isn't as big of an issue as I thought it'd be. Thanks for the feedback guys, and I'll be sure to use that transplanting idea. Peace and Pot :leaf:

I have never done it but I have read threads and know people that go 12/12 right from seed, they dont bet big but can finish about the same time as an auto

Put your seed in a premoistened soil, about 1/4" - 3-8" deep.

Put like 2-3-4 23 watt cfl's close to the soil where it keeps your junk warm.

You're plants will be up in 3-4 days.

It's magic.

Isn't the entire focus of this thread about speed?
Or now have you changed priorities - or do you still want the genetics and growing advise to go for the fastest possible crop?
