Feminized Lemon Skunk Closet Grow - Green House Seeds

Before this, I have only grown using bagseed and doing the best I could with what I had. I also only grew small plants. I recently purchased some fem Lemon Skunk seeds from Green House. I germinated 1 seed, it took 4 days to crack. After that, I planted it in a normal ass pot as seen in the picture below.
(Using natural unfertilized soil and only watered with straight water.)

That picture was taken 1 week from putting the cracked seed into the soil.
Exactly seven days later I transplanted to 50 lbs of dirt in a large rubbermaid container with 2x 26W 6500K CFLs directly overhead, and fertilized lightly with MG 24-8-16 All-Purpose plant food. The progress can be seen below.

I'll be uploading weekly progress pictures to show how fast this thing is growing. Check out some online reviews of this strain if you are interested to know what it is capable of turning into.

Also, I have set up a 100 CFM 120V fan pushing out through a carbon filter at the top of the closet door where this plant is, and NOTHING could ever stop this smell from getting out. This is the strongest weed I have ever smelled.

In regards to the smell, is it a pleasant lemony smell, or more spunky then the lemon.

Well, I can't really identify at this point. I definitely understand why they call it skunk but I really can't pick out the lemon by itself, I'm going to have to wait and see. It smells pleasant for sure though, just very strong. Here is a picture I just took, 3 days since the last one posted above. This plant is a total of 17 days old since it touched the soil.

At 17 days old:

6.5" Tall

14" Across

Since there are now two fans creating a windstorm around the plant, I've noticed a significant increase in stem and branch strength.

Constant 22 degrees Celcius and 60% humidity. I stepped up to 4x 26W CFL's and raised them a bit, to let that bush stretch out. Great development, I'm just waiting patiently for flowering time. I will be using that 150W HPS that you see hanging there, and maybe some CFLs if I feel it's necessary but I doubt I will be needing them.

Looks awesome. Just a suggestion as I seen your last grow. Do not trim all the leaves off. Supercrop or train during veg and don't stress it out during flowering. Once you trim the leaves from the lower areas of the branches there is no chance of bud production there. GL

Yeah man, you're absolutely right, and thanks for the advice. I know that on my last grow I did several things wrong, and that's why I keep posting here on Rollitup. I definitely stressed it too much during flowering and induced the hermie myself. I was trying to trim, and LST, and fertilize, and transplant, all at the worst times. This time I have a quality seed so I'm going to try and let nature take it's course as opposed to trying to supercharge it.

I read a lot about trimming before planting this one and a lot of people suggest not to trim fan leaves at all because it will stunt whatever node I trimmed from. I'm cutting off the majority of the photosynthesis for that part of the plant. I just don't like how the upper fan leaves block all the ones below it. Any suggestions? I'm going to avoid training this one, I want to let it get as big and wide as I can.

Training is how you will achieve that. If I were you I would start low strength training now. This will allow the lower shoots to catch up and creat an even canopy. A scrog may be perfect for you. If you just allow it to grow up tall then the lower buds will not recieve much light and most of the growth will be on the main cola.

You can tie the plant down and even tuck the leaves under the shoots or tie them out of the way as well. That is how you achieve an even canopy.

I can easily see the difference there. I'm wondering about which method I should try. I clearly need to leave the bottom fan leaves, and somehow the top ones need to get out of the way. What if I cut them in half as opposed to removing them entirely, and did some tying down low to stretch the bottom out? I know I have a wicked root system right now so if I trim a little, the plant will only get bigger trying to reach equilibrium again. As long as I don't kill the bitch.

But I just had my nose in there and took a good close look, and right this second, I want to let it go. The development around those top leaves needs to get moving before I can do anything with them. The bottom branches are actually stretched out as wide as the top fan leaves right now. I'm just going to monitor her closely and keep this thread up to date, if you guys see any imminent danger I want to know about it haha. I've grown a couple closet grows but I'm aware that what I know is basic.

I have a lemon skunk from DNA. She is sativa Dom and super sensitive to nitrogen so watch out for the amount of nitro.

nice plants so far! I am growing some lemon skunk right now, but from Nirvana Seeds.... it is probably almost halfway through flowering and the smell is very skunky and the trichomes are all over the place already! Good luck with the grow! Subscribed.

I try to go easy on ferts until I see a deficiency. It's easier to fix her with medication when she needs it, than it is to try and flush out too much in her system.. Good to know that she's sensitive to nitro. That almost makes me want to use a flowering fert right now instead of my 24-8-16 or my 20-20-20 veg ferts. I also have 15-30-15 and 8-14-9 sitting in my closet, do you recommend using one of those at this stage instead? Or should I be fine with a light mix of 20-20-20?

to bigslama912:

Thanks man, but your lemon skunk looks nothing like mine. Yours actually looks way more sativa and for some reason mine has wider fan leaves. Could just a different distributor actually have that much of a genetic difference?

puffntuff,

I'm noticing some canoe-like tendencies in some of my leaves, is that nitro claw? It's not everywhere, I took some pictures to show you top and side view of the leaves. Does anything seem out of order?

I was thinking that too. I was actually mistaken before as well, the seeds were from DNA genetics from Attituide. It is a sativa/indica blend. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!

Dude wtf, that is the biggest fucking plant I have ever saw for 17 days old from cracked seed. Mine is only 8 days old but is around 5-7 inches tall. It seems so small compared to this big ass bushy plant. Very nice, most likely an experiences grower.

I grew five individual plants before in my life and they were all just bagseed. But you're right, she is growing up quickly.

I'm can hardly wait for flower, but I'm going to wait anyway. I'm going to wait as long as I possibly can haha, I want a monster in my closet.

keep up the good work Fractus! Also, just for your information... the container your using to grow in. Genius! That thing has enough volume to where once your baby starts flowering.. and starts her stretch.. man, she's going to be a HUGE fucking bush IMO.

Looking good bro! Looking good.

Check this out.. its my Pandora's Box cross. It's Pandora's Box crossed with Blue Kush and Ice Berry. Short plant by nature it seems.. though, I hesitated a little too long on transferring her to a bigger pot once I noticed she was flowering (when she showed sex)... so that effected her final vertical height as well as her genetics.

I'll probably get about between 10 and 15 grams from this plant.. once dried and cured. But, as I said in my journal.. I'd take quality over quantity any day. Oh, and the smell - holy shit. I have never had a plant that has smelled this strong and pungent. Its a mix of that kush smell with a mix of fruit and berries.. its just amazing.. it makes my mouth water every time I go to water my two ladies.. every single time. I'm a bit anxious to get to harvest time with this cross.. to see what its really made of and to see what kind of product it pushes out. The other plant of mine, is an Afghani #1 from Sensi Seeds.. which is doing marvelously, but nothing really special.. though she is a bit taller than the Pandora's Box cross.

Here's a pic of the Pandora's Box cross: Picture was taken Wednesday for my journal update which nobody seems to be watching, so I'm not going to do any follow-ups or updates with it.. I'll just keep the grow to myself and enjoy it. In this pic, she was exactly on day #1 of week #3 of flowering, or day #15 of flowering.

PKB:

and if anyone would like to see both the Afghani and the PKB together.. well, here ya go:
the PKB is the plant at the top of the pic.. the one below the PKB is of course, the Afghani:

Anyhow, just wanted to share mine. :)

Hope all of you's have a great holiday weekend! Don't get too fucked up.. I know I will be! hehehe. :blsmoke::joint:
