What is a good starting set of nutrients for a first grow to get the best yield, and quality?

GH Floranova Bloom is a great starter. Just one bottle, nice n simple. It's similiar to running Lucas formula. I'm running it in dwc myself, no problems at all.

Yup. Gh floranova bloom or gh maxibloom can be used throughout all plant growth stages. 1 part all the way seed to harvest.
Lucas formula is gh flora micro and flora bloom mixed @ a 1:2 ratio. Full strength dose is 8ml/16ml of micro/bloom. I personally use this along with additives in my dwc.
I would also suggest:
Pondzyme (if you don't have a chiller)
Calcium nitrate (source of both calcium and nitrogen)
Monopotassium phosphate (this is what most bloom boosters are derived from)
Magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt, source of mag and sulfur)
And a silica nute also, silica helps alot.
