ffof starting to compact

hey guys tomorrow is day 10 on my grow and my ffof is starting to compact a little. is this something i need to worry about, or can i just gently till the soil around. is it possible to add a little more soil or will this make things worse. any help is appreciated. thx

I always use it that never happens to me are you watering to much? The black Gold gets a crusty top pretty easy but ocean forest does me good.water less add more perlite maybe break up the top if possible when you water!

Is it really compact or has it just dried out? Materials in potting mix become hydrophobobic when they dry out, and that can cause it to harden. Using a wetting agent helps the water permeate the mix. Sometimes you see it listed in the ingredients of the potting mix, e.g. yucca extract.

Breaking up the top layer, moving dirt around is not really going to help... it's like rototilling hard-pan soil; before long it is back to its 'compact' state.

ok guys thx will add more perlite and I only add water about every2-3 days if needed. thx sorry didn't mean to make it sound like its gettn like rock may have just settled, as my plant is really flourishing
