Fighting Bladder Cancer with Cannabis

Hello All,

I am new to the forum.
Was happy to find a Colorado board for patients.

My SO and I are dealing with cancer. The long term bf has bladder cancer,
had his bladder removed, then found out last week that the bladder cancer cells
had still moved to his lymph nodes. Basically, the bladder didn't come out in time.
Dissection and removal of the nodes is out of the question, according to our surgeon...
We've already been through chemotherapy and seen the devastating effects.
We are refusing to do it again. We both believe it will end up killing him faster. He has 19 months (at most)
to live if we can't slow it down.

Fast forwarding the story.. I've been studying the power of CBD's and their powerful
anti-cancer anti-tumor properties. We've decided it's time to grow it because we
can't afford to buy hash shots (cannabis oil) every week. We would like to go with auto-flowering
strains, because, A) It's winter B) They don't need the 12/12 rule, and C) Faster results.
From those we hope to make the oil.

Would any one know a good strain that might be higher in CBD content, to make the oil? I know, hard question..
But any recommendations on that, and growing methods, would be appreciated. We already
have some decent grow lights, and a warm place.. Also good soil.

We will be going with Rick Simpson's guide on making the oil.

Right now, we have 1 pound of leaves (I've read in multiple places that
the leaves actually possess higher CBD content than the buds), cuttings,
and bud clippings that were literally GIVEN to us for free from a local dispensary who really
empathized with our situation. So we will be using some good medicinal strains to make our first
batch of oil.

However, when that's out we will are hoping to have grown our own and be ready..
Any strain suggestions or other advice of ANY SORT really, is appreciated..

This the list of high CBD strains that I put together during the last year:

Cannatonic
Tora Bora
Grapefruit CBDiesel
Moonshine
Lime Kush
Yummy
Blue Moon Rock
Snow Goddess (303)
R-4
White Rhino
Medi Bomb 1
Omrita RX3
Harlequin
Z7
Maple Leaf Indica
Otto #1
Skunk Haze (CBD Crew)
Meltdown (303)

My fight is against regrowth of a glioma brain tumor, using homemade RSO. I make the oil with Everclear and have recently picked up a counter top distiller to recover the booze for reuse. Just now getting a high CBD plant to maturity, a Meltdown from 303 seeds. I also got a couple cuttings of Harlequin from the guy who was on TV promoting it, CBD Free for All. The cuttings have rooted and I am going to take more cuttings from these 2, root them and get them started in cups with soil, so should have a few in a matter of a few weeks. That one is billed as having a 'perfect' balance of THC/CBD. I'm no expert and am somewhat skeptical of the claims, but there is some evidence that the RSO helps, and I already like cannabis, so what the heck, may as well give it a go. If you want to grow from seed, check online seed shops, I like the attitude, for seeds from CBD Crew, or a local shop that has 303 seeds. There are probably quite a few local growers who would help you with trim to use for making oil.

edit: The Harlequin cuts that got passed to me are under the condition that they never be sold.

Hey there. My father is actually extremely interested in RSO and I have been looking into it as well.

First, and I'm sorry I can't provide a better answer right now but I was at The Clinic yesterday and they showed me a flower that wast tested at 17% CBD I think, so that would def be worth a phone call if your after high cbd strains.

Next, there are some Dispensaries that will sell you bulk if you have extended plant count. I have considered this as an option for producing at least a lower cost RSO. I've seen 1 in Denver that has $500 qps. OR you might look for a growop or personal caregiver to supply you bulk flower.

And if you guys don't mind I'd like to ask a couple of questions of my own....

When my dad first started talking to me about RSO, I had my doubts. As he said the desired chemical is THC and I did not understand how ingesting raw cannabis extract(THCa) would put THC into the bloodstream, as I understand it now the THC is converted(activated) in the RSO process??

Also, you are asking about CBD, and every time I ask my dad about it, he says that RSO calls for the highest THC and nothing about CBD. He also insists it be made from indica.

Now, like I said he's the one interested on it and that has done all the reading so I have just taken his word on some of these things.

Hoping maybe you guys can give a few quick answers before I start more extensive research my self.... Thanks!

THC is created from the raw plant by a conversion process called decarboxylation. It needs to be heated to do this. There is a chart posted on RIU that shows what temps are needed, but if memory serves, it is around 220F for about 20 minutes. Or you can just roll one up and smoke it, so the conversion happens as it burns. The only strain that I have seen Rick Simpson mention was White Widow, but I can't imagine why any of the other strains wouldn't work as well. The high CBD thing is to shift the balance more toward the pain relief and less about getting stoned. My experimentation is still early, so I'll defer to others for more detailed explanation. But when it comes to making the oil, I am convinced that the Everclear method is the easiest and safest way to do it at home. I am taking 3-4 drops after dinner when I plan to stay in. The tincture is nice as a supplemental method of ingesting, but requires some work to make (or purchase) the hash to make it. Good luck with your research and any findings you make and post are helpful.

Hey, thanks. I guess I was more asking about the RSO recipe. I know you heat the solvent to purge it off in his method but was not aware if this actually converted the thc.

As to the cbd, I am aware of the, lets say more obvious, benefits to the canibinoids. I guess what I was asking is, my dad says the Rick Simpson's literature claims that thc is what helps cure cancer, and I was wondering if the op or others have heard anything that perhaps cbd or cbn or w/e are also desired.

Also, I thought I might chime in on the auto flower thing and growing in general.

Let me start by saying I'm new to growing and even medical cannabis. BUT, I have been researching for the better part of a year and am 4 weeks into my first grow.

First, I'm sure your aware that autos typicality have lower yields, and RSO I think calls for 1lb per 1oz of concentrate.

Second, I have not seen any AF clones around, although that may be because I'm not looking. So assuming you order seeds from Europe, be prepaird to wait about 3 weeks, and possibly have them taken by customs. It's really hard to say as strains vary on flower time and whatnot but when comparing growing an AF from seed or a photo from a clone, your really only talking maybe an extra few weeks for the photo, and you will likely have a much better yield, etc.

My experience on ordering seeds btw... I've ordered from Attitude 3 times, twice the seeds were taken. One time I had them reship and received them. And this most recent one I just got my money back and went and got some clones instead. So basicly make sure you get the guarantee by adding on a t-shirt or w/e.

Sorry to span this thread but I talked to pops last night and he did some reading and passed this article along this morning...

http://www.medicaljane.com/2013/10/14/british-study-cannabinoids-may-combine-to-effectively-treat-cancer/

So, we are gonna start out by trying some of the 50/50 thc/cbd tincture they sell at the clinics. Then work on finding some high non-thc cannabinoid clones. And combining them with a high thc strain when we make the oil.

Right now I'm about 2 months away from harvest on some Blueberry clones. I think I'm gonna be looking to trade/combine at least half the crop with some high cbd flower. Or I may just donate the flower to someone terminal depending on our situation at the time.

Hey 420. I have also been looking at the countertop distillers to recollect the alcohol. How is yours working and what model did you get? Good job on the list of high cbd stains.

Sorry MountainGirl, he isn't around anymore - check his sig. He got one from somewhere in CAN -said he had to call them to switch it out for alcohol instead of water. Not sure of exactly where, maybe that helps. He said it worked good - 75% reclaim I think.
