Fire marshals

Do fire marshals have the right to inspect existing private residences?

Can they inspect garages or other outbuildings?

Or are the restricted to commercial buildings?

If it appears like you're doing construction without a permit or running a business in a residence or something like that which might be a violation of health, safety, fire codes, zoning ordinances, or building codes... Then yes, they can. Otherwise no.

Fire marshal is like god here.
