First attempt at Super Cropping / FIMing

We had to go away for a week and tried our best at setting up an auto-watering system for the week. We came back and found 2 of our 4 indica doing really well. They bushed out. One was a bit more stretched than the other. The remaining 2 indica appear more or less the size they were when we left. There was no nutrients in the reservoir, it was just water.

Today we tried to super crop the 4 indica and FIM'ed the 3 sativa. Sativa are the 3 in the middle, and the indica are the 4 outer plants in the large pots. The bushier indica are the upper and lower left pots. The smaller indica are the upper and lower right pots.

The sativa aren't bushing out at all, and the indica are getting a little too tall. This was our rationale for FIMing the sativa, and super cropping the indica.

Please be gentle if you comment. We are definitely still learning and just want to try and fill up the entire 4'x4' area. And hope we didn't royally mess this all up.

Dynamo wow that's amazing!

Did we let the plants get too big before starting the training? We are not great at cutting these ladies. So topping and pruning although needed has to this point been avoided. To this point we are just cutting away lower areas that may waste plant energy.

There is nothing special abought topping lots of beginers are afraid of hurting the plants. Dont be scared lol deer and rabbits can eat a plant down to a stub and they bounce back even stronger. If you want a even canopy train early and often.

well ..... Lol you can train it to fill the area which is a good first step but as for a canopy as even as mine it may be to late. Mine are toped 3 times the first month and the first supercrop is probably around week 2. On the positive i have seen much much worse canopy managmant that yours. Not to shabby for a first grow

We also noticed that these plants all have sexed. But we haven't left the 18/6 lighting cycle yet. Should we be concerned with light leak if the plants are still in veg mode?

hmmm. This is not a test. We were told that veg plants do not need to worry about light leak. However we assumed that meant the plants were pre-sexed. Now that they are showing all female it makes sense to be careful about this?

Here are our plants on day 72 (so ~ 12 days post super-crop / FIM)

We are now making sure to pH balance all of the feedings. We are using GH grow, CalMag, and Armor Si.

We fimmed the left column of SSH (it didn't turn out so great). Only the bottom left plant appears to have been a success. But they are also in 1 gallon pots which may be stunting them.

The four indica on the right were all super-cropped. We have 2 that are slowly taking to the training. Those would be the middle column. Then we have the right column that are really doing well. The top one in particular is really bushing out. The bottom right plant is not bushing so much as it is stretching out horizontally. Is this something that happens when super-cropping is done wrong? We were thinking the plant is expressing a sativa-like phenotype.

We are planning to pull the SSH once as the veg cycle comes to an end. Hopefully the will enjoy the LED set-up we had going while the indica go into flower. We want the 4 indica plants to take up most of the canopy and then we are going to look into scrogging.

We had some technical issues with our watering hose and pump. Which forced us to go back to hand watering. It isn't a problem while we are available. It just eats up a lot of time.

Oh and the carbon filter, fan and exit through a window were all done this weekend. It turned out to be a major project. We're not contractors so we were lucky enough to make things work on the first try. We were very luck to find wire cutters in the apartment for the duct vents. Pics to come in that thread tomorrow hopefully...

At this point when is a plant ready to be flipped to flower mode? Our goal again is to get full canopy, but the indica are not even 12" tall from soil to highest point.

Thanks for looking, and please comment.

Thanks for the tip. We are going to remove the three pots on the left. currently we are looking for small tent for constant vegging (perhaps 24"x24"x48"). The goal is to space out the four pots evenly and give them maybe 1-2 weeks max before switching.

Should we ever remove the twisty ties that are holding the 4 super-cropped plants?

Nope. You're going to want to continue wrestling them through stretch too. They can double or triple in size. My current plants grew another 30 inches during stretch.

I have a feeling you're going to have a full tent.

Really!! The tent during flowering is going to have only 4 plants which are currently not even 12" in height. You really see them expanding to fill the tent through the flowering phase? That makes us feel better. Right now we are worried we over trained them into dwarf plants.
