So, I just picked up some Hindu Kush seeds. and just started germination with seed starter pellets. As far as grow box details setup will be as follows,
Box dims 7'T x 42"W x 3'D 3/4" white melamine
400w HPS w/ 200w PC (10k, 420nm for veg)
6-3gal buckets
fox farm ocean soil
fox farm nutes
6" exhaust with homemade carbon scrubber (to be added later)
dual zone temp and humidity monitor
i will post pics soon, gotta get some good ones.

Any input would be appreciated. Btw not my first indoor grow, just my first using a closet.

Thanks exception. I will be starting with some GDP clones that are about 12-14" in the next week or so and will be vegging the Hindu Kush under the pc's till the GDP finishes off. I know how much likes pics so when I have more I'll post em. I do have a quick question for everyone. What do u suggest for additional veg time? I have a total of about 5.5-5.75' for final plant height. This is my first time with either strain and growing with a space limitation. Thanks in advance.

well u have to allow at least double for flower. honestly i would veg until 18" & then flower. I waited far too long on my current grow & they r monsters & hell for space, lol. But if u want the plant height that tall, well u can veg for quite awhile longer then.

Yeah, I agree with you there. I used to grow in a basement YEARS ago, and height was never really much of an issue. I kinda figured that with the extra height in the box I could go 3.5-4' by the time I harvest the GDP. I'm only doing 4 of those so I figured a little extra veg couldn't hurt. Time will tell. Thanks for your input.

granted u have the height room & about double the depth of the closet I am currently using, but I was actually relieved 2 of my 4 ended up being male, they were a pain in the ass honestly. Make sure you keep ur closet door open as often as possible & I have a fan I elevate blowing from the outside in on the plants for about 2 hours a day as well. And yw, good luck on a GREAT grow!

The box has a floating floor to draw fresh air in and I'm using a 6" duct fan that is installed in the ceiling of the box. Additionally and just for fun, I am going to install a variable speed fan that I will control using a controller for a powerhead from an old reef tank. The reasoning behind this is to simulate varying intensities of breeze as the plants would see in an outdoor grow. I think that it is not a necessary step, but a fun experiment nonetheless. Still trying to source a fan, so if anyone knows where to get a speed controllable dc fan, your input would be greatly appreciated.

So I have decided to change my plans a bit. I am going to hold off on clones as I have 6 seedlings ready to plant with 3 more to follow in the next day or two. I will be using 5- 7qt pots, and 4- 3gal pots instead. Now the fun finally begins. I will be adding pics later once I have everything in pots. I am still trying to find a variable speed DC fan, so if anyone knows of a source or has tried my idea before, please give me your input. If you have any other suggestions, advice, or input, I would love to hear from you. Here is a pic3711.jpg today under my 2x96w PC(10k, and 420nm)

So I checked on the girls and already had roots out the bottom of the seed plugs, so into their pots they went! I dropped my 400w 14k phoenix MH bulb so I am using the 400w HPS. fixture is 13" from the top. The last pic is to give you a perspective as to how much height i have to work with. BTW the pots are 3 gallon.

So the girls are enjoying their first night in their new home. I am enjoying some blue romulan and am ready to call it a night. as many of us that like to medicate here, I am a little surprised that no one has any input...

So here we are 7 days from seed pics were taken yesterday afternoon. I picked up some Dark Energy, and Hydroponix 3 part and will be starting that today. This will be my first time using the Dark Energy. I would love to hear some input from you guys who have used it. For that matter, I would love input regarding anything in my grow. This is my first grow in 12 years and I feel a lil "rusty"...

So I'm curious why no one has any input. Do I need more pics, details? I have to say that after reading others journals and the responses they have had, I kinda thought I would have more response. Despite what the sticky states, I would love comments, thoughts, tips, etc.(good, bad, or otherwise) Tell me what ya think guys...THX :)

looking good besides a little stretched. whats your temps been at plant tops? humidity? i would add a fan blowing across your plants also.

Temp at tops is 73.4-76.7 RH is 42%. The temp variance is due to the fact that my exhaust fan comes on for 2 hrs then off for 2hrs. Unfortunately I broke my MH bulb that I was gonna use for veg and had to use the HPS instead. I haven't found the fan I'm looking for, so I haven't installed one yet. I have the box open for 2hrs in the am and 2 hrs in the eve to check on everyone and use a 24" fan to give them a lil breeze to help harden them off a bit. Additionally I have a 6" exhaust fan that draws air in from the bottom (floating floor) and out through the ceiling. You can see it in the previous pics. I agree they are stretching more than they should. Since I have always grown from clones I really didn't know what to expect. Any suggestions to remedy this besides the obvious...get them closer? :) Unfortunately, I don't have anything big enough to raise all the pots. This I can remedy in the next couple of days as I plan on building a separate box to veg out future clones, seed, etc. (my brother has the power tools) Thx in advance :)

you should be ok. just cover some of the stem when you transplant. i wouldn't go any closer then you are. you might end up bleaching your plants. i havent had any bleaching on my leafs but ive read some people have.

Thanks a ton red! All the leaves are nice and green. I can hold my hand 2" from the fixture and have virtually no heat. I see what you mean about the bleaching, dealt with that a lot in the past in the coral business. They are already in their final pots. I have staked them all out and installed a small fan that runs opposite the exhaust fan to help harden them off a little bit. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the veg box built, hopefully this week as I have some spare time. For the next grow I will be vegging out under my PC fixture and then flowering with the HPS each in their own boxes. I think I have enough space that I could do it with the box I have, I just feel it would be easier to control any variables with 2 separate systems, and provide me a nearly perpetual harvest. I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

set up looks good, lots of height space. u dont need something special to put pots on to get closer to light, use what you have around the house, anything for elevation. u surely want to get that stretching under control before they fall over; lets hope not!

So here is pics from about 10am today. You can see where I've added stakes cause they are so stretched and top heavy. As far as the stretch goes i'm gonna ride it out a bit and see what happens Looks like the blueberry and gdp are a no go. Oh well, I have room for 3 more right now and have an opportunity to pick up some sfv og, or skywalker og clones. In your opinion what would work best with the hindu kush? Thanks again to red and exception. + rep to you both again.:-o
