I am actually almost done with this grow but wanted an easy way to document, so here I am.

4 Warm 26W CFLs (Weeks 5-end)

Schedule
20-4 Weeks 1-7
18-6 Week 7+

Discovered Spidermites this week. Had tried various home remedies to no avail. 50-50 Rubbing Alcohol, Diluted Dish Soap, Climate & Humidity Controls. The following Saturday I bought a No Pest Strip and the fuckers were dead within 6 hours. I dosed 3 days in a row (only when I wasn't home), with vents closed, and then would give doses while I was away every 2-3 days for the next week. Adios Spidey.

Looks like neither will finish in the 2 months advertised, but I was under lighting the beginning of flowering and the bout with mites set them back as well. (User error). They look gorgeous and I am being as patient as possible.

All in all these seeds have been extremely low maintenance & easy, while Speed Devil actually seems to be faster than fast bud, the severe bushiness of the Fast bud leads me to believe it will ultimately yield more. They have been forgiving with my mistakes, and are hard to screw up, would definitely recommend to other newbies as a way to learn the ropes.

Will continue to update as I draw to a finish over the next few weeks.

Honestly I was surprised as well, was pretty aggressive with the feeding schedule (started at 1/4 feeding schedule week 3 and went to 1/2 week 4 easing up to 1:1 last week) but they never have seemed to mind. The speed devil 2 is now cut off from nutes, but the fast bud seems to be a week or two behind

Sorry, I deleted my post when I realized this was a journal, but thanks for responding. I'll delete this, too, if you want me to.

I'm growing the same strains, so very interested. I've only used molasses and seaweed, with a touch of organic nutes once budding kicked in. I might ramp up a bit.

Good luck with your harvest, you're still a ways away.

edit: How do they smell?

no worries about posting responses (all welcome).

The smells are as advertised on the SS website:
The Speed Devil 2 has a yeasty smell with elements of cheese to it (currently the dominant smell given it's flowering prowess)
The Fast Bud started almost fruity but has turned more fuel-like as the buds develop.

I am using soil moist crystals soaked in ONA to hide it, which is working for outside the room, but may be a lost cause inside now.

If you are organic-only definitely read up on the Mycorrhizae, my buddy turned me on to the wonders of Fungus (http://www.ted.com/talks/paul_stamets_on_6_ways_mushrooms_can_save_the_world.html). My top choice for Mite control was actually fungal (would only attack the mites), but was too costly and I needed an immediate solution.

Mycorrhizae is essential, both types. Wouldn't grow without it.

Didn't know about fungal control of mites, though, that's interesting. Thanks for the Ted link.

So, you agree with the described scents? I'm only getting faint whiffs at this point, but I'm growing 24/0 throughout. I did turn the lights out for a while when I got impatient for flowering to kick-in, and the darkness produced a blast of fragrance. Now that I'm back to lights on always, it's tamed back down.

If you want a good organic mite solution, look into Zero Tolerance.

I reduced my photoperiod for the Fast bud. Despite being an auto, it seemed to be stuck in Preflowering at 20-4

This was the commercial product I found, but it's for farmers not gardeners ($110 for a bottle that can treat 4 acres)
http://www.agriculturesolutions.com/Insecticides-and-Oils/Mycotrol-O-Bio-Insecticide-1-Quart.html

Single application would do the trick (the infected bugs would become walking time bombs of more infectous spores)

Here's the strain it's based on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauveria_bassiana

If they sold it by the ounce versus the Qt that would be grand!

Yeah, it's pricey...but interesting. If you find it in smaller quantities, let me know.

I've got my own wacky strategy for keeping bugs at bay, but I've only got a micro-grow going atm.
It's pretty easy to manage, even here in mite paradise.

I'm using a 24/0 schedule, but I noticed the same thing with my Fast Bud. I had to monkey with the schedule a bit to trigger flowering.

Good looking auto's Dread. I'm an auto grower myself. Just like you I'm trying to get off the dealers tit.

Wondering if you was going to start some more soon? Usally try to start mine a week or 2 after preflower. Harvest every month.

I have some fem. reg's lined up for the next round (starting after New Years). Going to try 3 plants in my Aerogarden. I have Sweet Seeds Green Poison & will germ 2 from the Kiwi Indoor Mix (unlabeled, so I will have to determine the strains afterwards). These have definitely been easy though, will definately try more autos in the future

Speed Devil 2 Looks days from Harvest time, Fast bud could go another few weeks it seems. Both are cranking out smell full blast now, trying a new (cheaper) anti-smell agent.

I harvested the Speed Devil the other day, and now the fast bud is getting 100% of my love. It easily has a week or two left to flower (my preflower jamming issue). I am not complaining, it looks like it will yield more too. more pics coming.
