Whats up RIU! :hump:

Specs

Regular ol soil / perlite / feather (heard it had high amounts of nitrogen as well as good soil conditioner, i could be wrong) mix
As far as my watering i've been doing straight tap water boiled and left out for two days for the first 3 weeks im in my 5th week and i introduced nutes about a week nd a half ago.

I made a custom mix for the watering fert i got a tomato fert 4-7-10 made a texas tea about half a gallon and mixed oak leaves with grinded eggshells nd feathers (another half gallon) and put them together.

about a week ago they started looking way yellow and u can tell by the bottom leaves but i think it was an overwatering issue and they've looked better since i started watering every other day instead of everyday.

I also had a spider mite issue but some good ol neem oil fixed that up.

ph of the water fert is 6.8
ph of soil is 7.2

im using an LED Grow light but i think its a veg light since it has more red than blue...
might be the problem here. i was using about 8 24 watt bright white cfl's but a friend let me have this light since he doesnt use it so i took the cfls out.

on the back i've got a cardboard lined with mylar with a small hole made to fit a box that has two cfls with incoming air and a tube coming from a c02 bottle mix.

there are also two bottles made with tubes going to random spots above the plants.

plants are looking a bit droopy nd unhealthy, any suggestions?

nd random digi pic is me mexican magyver'in a couple of double a batteries and speaker wire to get the right voltage since i didnt have watch batteries hahah.
sorry for the overload of pics just wanted to make sure u can see it all, hehe :weed:

Thx,
REAXBEATS
:peace:

Can see em great! Looks like under watering, whats your temps? Are they clones cause the look small to be feeding so many nutes. Do you have a ppm meter to see how much you gave them? I had babies in pots that size and under cfls needed to be watered daily cause the soil got so dry. I used orchid ferts 3 weeks in veg at 1/4 strength and then 1/2 3 weeks later. My plant pics are on my only thread still new here not sure how to post link. How far is that ufo above your plants? Soil looks really dry.

temps are usually 70-80 sometimes i slip and it goes 90 for an hour or so. I water every other day..
Whats a PPM meter. They are actually bagseed plants from germination in sponges inside a eggcrate to this, officially about 4 weeks into veg. Not sure where I can pick up those ferts what are the NPK values in them? The Ufo light is 17 inches from the top of the highest plant, should i go higher?
Nd the soil looks dry but when i stick my finger in it feels moist about 1 inch down so i wasnt really worried.. should i?

Thanks for responding, hope to hear from ya.

btw. picked up a bag of cottonseed meal high in ([N]ITROGEN)-p-k
sprinkled a bit over the soil... good idea or bad?

Well first off 90F is way to high even for an hour try and keep it around 80F or lower. A PPM meter reads nutes (salts) at your babies stage in life I wouldn't go over 500ppm prob not even 400ppm with there size. I dont know to much about LED's but i know they have to be closer then that I think....Anybody??
As for that cottonseed stuff I wouldnt use it. Not meant to be sprinkled on top it should be mixed with soil ( I made this mistake with blood and bone meal pellets, bad nute burn)
Ok so best option here for you....... Get about $40 and get some bigger pots at lowes or something like a 6in by 6in (like the ones I use) fill with top soil or potting soil from lowes and perlite (I see you have lots in your pics) whatever your soil mix may be. BUT dont use miracle grow or any soil with nutes in it. Your ladies will love there new homes. Bigger pots = less watering = less maintainace = little more lead way for mistakes like high temps.
When in there new soil use plain water no nutes! This should perk em right back up. water when top is crusty dry and dry about 2 inches down. Make sure water drains right out the bottom. I also see you boil your water, why? I use take water and just let it sit in jugs over night to evap the chlorine.
This info I'm giving is from personal experience and IMO the best for your plants.
Read into those UFO's and see height distances other people are using. I'm here to help!

oh and when they perk back up use that orchid nutes (buy at lowes too like $7 last forever!) Its NPK values are n-25 p-10 k-10. So lots of nitrogen for good growth. It should come with a spoon with two sides ones 5ml. In two litres of water (coke or pepsi bottle) mix half yes half so 2.5ml for 2 liters. Do this only when your ladies get back to health about 2 weeks. For now just plain water.

Can I get a PPM meter at like walmart or something or do i have to order it online?
and alright on that cottonseed, i'll take it off tonight.
So basically your advice is to transplant them into 6x6 soil/perlite mix.
water them with left out chlorine evaporated tap H2O nd then introduce orchid nutes in about two weeks after they start looking a bit healthier, right?

I also just noticed my room humidity is at around 45, is that ok?

thx again for all the help, greatly appreciated!

yes your exactly right. Id try the transplant 100% thats what i had to do cause i cooked my clones with cfls awhile back, lost 9 out of 10. The one that lived is a mini bush now!! Its in my grow cab build, check her out. I only suggest using a ppm if your making your own nute tea like you were. If you go with the orchid nutes at the amount i said above you'll do just fine. Use your other nutes when flowering cause they have a higher p-k value then n which isn't needed as much in flowering.

your humidity is just fine if it goes below 35 then add a wet paper towel in there to create a increase of about 10%

kk, sounds good man.

one more thing, i've read somewhere that flushing them right before i transplant is a good idea, what do u think?
nd do u think i should switch lights?
because i did have two cfls over two hydros that i transplanted them into soil(its the ones with more perlite on top of em)
and they did seem to do better with those in there, im afraid my lights have too many red LED's and i think thats the wrong spectrum for veg or am i ok?

bucksbud

Your right that red spectrum is for flowering but i wouldn't ever flower with led's. If i had to keep the budget down i'd go with big watt cfl's. I did notice your perlite plants are alot healthier, i believe due to the moisture content that perlite holds. Just watch your temps with cfl's.

Doesn't really matter but i wouldn't flush, only because your sprinkled that nute stuff and getting the soil wet will activate the nutes. Id put them in there new homes then lighty water them with plain evap'd water.

drop the light it looks very high and the plants look abit stretchy
its not a veg light, red is for flower and blue is for foliage growth however atm almost all leds seem to preform alot better at veg stage than flower.
also if your adding nutes at this stage dont its not good for seedlings
if you boil water or leave it out for days it helps get the chlorine out you probably dont need to do both..
also if you dont really know what your doing why not spend a few quid on som ready mixed soil?
good luck tho i'l sub n see how this goes as im always interested in led grows
