First grow i need help 3ft x 5ft? 600Watt

Well this will be my first attempt at growing and i have a closet about 3ft wide and about 5ft tall, i also have a 600watt grow light with no bulb? keeping in mind i dont have lots of cash to pull out how many plants do you think i should grow as it is my first grow also i need cheeap reflective matrel too cover it in? and last of alll what buld will i need for the job? Help a Fella out? :leaf:

if you are on a budget i would try 4-6 plants in soil. start in small 5" pots then transplant to 1 gallon pots and then to 3 gallon pots a week before flower. if you can only afford 1 bulb then get a 600w HPS bulb. if you can afford 2 then get a 600w MH bulb as well and use it for veg and the first 10-14 days of flower. you can sprout the seedlings with a few CFL's. don't worry about reflective material. spend that money on a fan or something to cool the room or exhaust the heat from the lamp.

okay thanks man how much does a cheap 600watt bulb cost and what strained do you think is a good easy one to start off on?

i would try and find some bag seeds if you have any lying around. if not just order some cheap 8 week strain that is high yielding indica dominant. you can get cheap 600w bulbs online for $25-$35.

Phillips are cheap.. What kinda ballast? Switchable? Digital? Watch the heat. Cheap reflective material is gloss white paint.

Some ballasts run both bulbs MH and HPS. Some old ones only MH. Some magnetics have a switch to do both. Digital can do both. Does it have any switches? What does the manufacturers side plate say? The ballast is the big metal box on the cord.

Do you have all the necessities to grow such as ph and ppm meter, soil if it's dirt or dwc bucket(s) if it's hydro, nutes, fans etc.
