First grow Need help please

It's my first time growin some herb I've germinated 2 seeds and placed them in a small container with holes for draining its the first day I plan on using 18/6 light cycle using one 40 watt cfl about 1 inch away from them in a 2'' by 1'' --- 1 foot deep plastic container with shirts covering the top so far I see no results the seedlings seem to be harder now But I am not sure if it's because their growing or are dieing please if any 1 can provide me with some tips, advice or assisitance I would highly appreciate it Thanks everyone

i always put them under 24/0 light for first two weeks. the only reason to use 18/6 at this point would be to save on electricity but with ur cfl this shouldnt be an issue. u could run 24/0 all the way to flowering. have u got ur pot measurements wrong??? 2" by 1", sounds kinda strange. what do mean by shirts covering the top? my pal always covers his seedling with the top half of a small plastic coke bottle, makes it into a mini propagator, dont water the plant just spray the inside of the coke bottle with water to let the humidity build up.(i just use a shop bought heated propagator)
