I grew one purchased Pineapple Express clone in a tent using a $129 LED panel which I augmented with 3 150W cfls during flowering. Grown in FF Happy Frog soil with perlite added, not overwatered, not over nuted. From the start, the plant grew slowly but healthy. The main stock got thick while the plant grew slowly. The 8 spears that flowered looked pretty and frosty, but were very very dense. I thought to myself "cool, dense buds." Upon harvesting and curing, the smoke was rather harsh and the high wasn't very high at all. Apparently, not very much THC was created. I ended up saving 1/4 of the crop and turning the rest into hash oil. I then crushed up the remaining buds and mixed in the hash oil to it.
It gives me a good speedy clean high now, but not very much quantity was left. I compared my my buds density to that of dispensary grown buds. There buds are dense but there's a little bit of nice sponginess to it. My buds were just rock rock hard. Not any nice sponginess to them at all. I felt like I grew cauliflower, not weed. That's how dense they were.
My guesses as to what happened.
1. The BestVA 1000w led didn't put out enough light intensity.
2. I successfully transplanted from a 3 gal pot to a 5 gal pot about 10 days before flowering. The roots therefore started getting a fresh dose of Nitrogen (not good for flowering). Notice some dark green bud fan leaves.
3. I may have let too many trichromes turn amber (the very top small bud fans leaves were all amber). I freaked and immediately harvested, hoping I wasn't too late.
4. From clone to harvest it took a whopping 115 days! It was a slow grower from the start.
5. PE isn't a heavy hitting strain (not likely)? Poor clone quality (not likely)?
For how pretty they looked at harvest and afterwards, I expected to get more high. I'd appreciate any input.
