First Grow! Platinum Bubba Kush CFL Grow PICS! DAY 32 FLOWERING *Will Update*

Ok so here are the pics I've been long waiting to take. I wish I could of got some when I first bought this plant as a clone from the medical clinic. Got it at about 2" tall and 2 sets of leaves on April 7, 2009. Started at 24/0 and started 12/12/ on 4/23/09.

This is my 1st grow. 100% CFL closet grow never seen any daylight! Flowering with 2 (65w) 2700k, 2 (25w) 2700k, and 1 (30w) 3500k. Although I have done my research and know everything that is needed to grow a strong healthy plant I dont follow it too much. I started using nutrients at first but have really backed off almost never giving it any. grown in Miracle grow soil everyone says sucks, I dont check my temperature anymore, dont ph the soil, dont ph the tap water anymore, and rarely open the closet and let it "breathe" and oscilate the fan on it. plant stands at almost 19" tall from the soil to the top. Just did a pretty decent amount of trimming before I took these pics, I just had too much wild life going on everywhere. Trying to get more light to the bud sites..

Couple questions..
How do you guys think its looking so far? What do you think the yield might be like? Anything I should change? 32 days ago i switched to 12/12 so almost 5 weeks into flowering, how much longer you think? Im guessing about 4 more weeks give or take...

So what you guys think so far?!?!

Please leave me a comment of any kind! I'd appreciate.. *I will update with a couple pics every week or so*

72 views so far and not one post!? wassup with that? haha damn I thought I'd get some kind of input...

After looking through a lot of flowering MJ pictures here Im a little dissapointed with what i got. Seems lots of others have bigger, dankier buds than I do, especially for being almost 5 weeks into flowering.. But hey it could be worse. But Im at least happy and patting myself on the back for it so far. Happy I didnt kill it and actually got it to bud. Friends Said I couldnt do it, and never seen anyone pull out any actual buds from a plant. Thats a good feeling haha. Next time I'll change a few things. I'll get some better lighting, maybe bigger more powerful cfl's and more of them at that, or just change to a different type of light. I'll veg a little longer, and cut off the lower stems when I flower So the bud can focus on the bigger ones up top. Im thinking I got popcorn buds. Or is it gonna supreise me soon!? Anything I can do to get the plant to really take off in the next few weeks?

what strain is that? looks like ww.

yes i'm very suprised at your results with soil and crap lighting.

impressive, you have some great seeds, and you must be a good to your plants.

actually, now that ive study'd the plants more, it seems they are streching and you need to get the lighting closer.

Hell ya bro those look way good congrats bro
Thankyou. Only ONE plant though.. All pics are of the same plant. Im in this for my own personal use and nothing more.. I Don't smoke very often

what strain is that? looks like ww
Thankyou. It is a clone. What is ww? Strain...? Wouldnt it be platinum bubba kush? lol At least that is what I was told it was. Yea wish I could of had more lighting but my grow space was limited and didnt wanna make too much of an electricity bill increase. Wish I vegged a little longer too. Kinda rushed it and my patience were running thin. Oh well.. Next time

i ment "what stran?" - ala bloodline(s), if a plant could bleed.
oic, well in that case I guess I couldnt tell ya. My lights were always very close. Or pretty close, after I got rid of the shitty phillips 75w agro lights I had like the first week anyways. The first week I had it, the lights were far and the temperature was pushing about 100 degrees. So I went with cfl's lol. fairly quickly.

When I say I had a tight space I mean it lol. I shoved this plant into an old closet that no one has probably opened seriously like literally probably at least 5 years. It was full of old junk and I just pushed shit to the side to squeeze the plant in. heres a pic LOL. Hey.. Ya gotta do what you gotta do.

I got 3 bulbs on top and 2 on the sides rotating the plant every few days. One you just cant see because the plant is blocking it. everything in my first post I dont do, plus no reflective material, no in/out ventilation system... Although next time I'll do much better, I did EVERYTHING you're NOT suppose to do , and shes doing alright. Not one droopy leaf or the slightest yellow spot. Guess I just got lucky!? hmm

She looks fine to me :-) next couple of weeks she will begin to put on weight.

Nothing wrong with CFL's my friend, most of those who tell you not to flower with 'crap lighting' :-) have never tried CFL growing, its a skill in itself.

I also grow a Kush strain, Bubba O Kush, but the Bubba Kush is lovely, I grew that for a number of years before I was gifted the Bubba O Kush (Bubba Kush x OG Kush).

Just keep those CFLs as close as you can to the budsights and you will get nice dense heavy buds.

You may care to take a quick look at my thread below, CFL's/Kush. Keep us updated :-)

Good luck.

bro if anyone thinks this plants good they are wack.... personally dont take it to heart but my first plant looked like this and it looks ok but its going to be shitty.... DONT TRIM ANY leaves off your plant unless they are dead... it doesnt make the bud get more light and get bigger. it grows slower because it cant breath correctly. if you left them on and got better ventilation that would look way healthier.... guess better luck next time "bro"

GroDro, did you actually take the time to look through his images? ...... Thats a nice Kush plant I see there, and for a first grow its excellent. Come on, give the guy a break! :-)

Get those CFL's right down on her and around those lower buds and watch her go. I know the quality of the Bubba Kush and you wont be dissapointed, I have been growing the Kush strains for many years.

Take it from a grower in his fifties whos been around cannabis for a LONG time, you are doing good there :-)

Keep it going.

Thats what Im beggining to think. Now that she is really budding, im noticing the buds getting bigger and really starting to take over the plant. :) Thankyou! We'll see how she turns out

Kool, thanks for your opinion. If thats the way you feel thats fine. Its my first time so I wanted to hear multiple opinions. I will be updating so we will see whether or not you're right or wrong wont we.. I never have a problem trimming. Not excessively but just enough. Trimming is not going to hurt the plant

wow your plant looking very nice ....Its real bubba kush? With CFL you doing great my friend.
Thankyou MargitKush! Just what I was told and what it was labeled at the clinic. They had a few different types but I chose the bubba.

Thanks cerebral vibrator I appreciate it! bongsmilie:leaf:
Finally got another digital camera so cant wait to take more pictures of her!

nice plant man... Im a belever in HID lighting ONLY for growing but within context CFL will still get you the potential on THC and whatever but its just not IMO a feasible option for yields. As you have already said you dont smoke much, which will be good as you wont get much but it can still be on par smoke wise as growing it with HID lighting. just my 2 cents. But keep up the good work things are looking frosty...

Cheers kwaka

Hi bigDawg,

Bit of useful info here on CFL's recently posted by Roseman (well worth a look at his threads if you want to see just what CFL's CAN do!). Taken from Feb edition of Skunk magazine. Makes interesting reading.

I think part of the issue is that growers still think back to the old strip flouros that we all used back in the day, modern CFL's are much improved as I hope you will prove to yourself.

Hope you find it interesting:

"......... you have several lighting systems to choose from, including compact fluorescents and high pressure sodium (HPS) lamps. Among HPS lamps you have a choice between a single 100-watt lamp which uses a total of about 120-watts and emits about 8,800 lumens(73 lumens per watt) or a 150-watt lamp, which uses about 180 watts and emits almost double that-15,800 lumens (87 lumens per watt)

A 42-watt compact fluorescent (CFL) emits about 2700 lumens(64 lumens per watt). Four CFLs use 168 watts and emit 10,800 lumens. Other size CFLs have a similar efficiency.

However, that is only part of the story. Plants use mostly red and blue light. Yellow and green light is of little use to them, so light that is emitted in these spectrums is wasted energy. Most of the light emitted by HPS lamps is in the yellow spectrum. Only a small amount of the emitted light is is in the orange or red spectrums, which plants use efficiently. Warm white fluorescents (2700 Kelvin) emit a greater portion in the red and orange sectors.
Although fluorescents produce only about 75% of the light per watt that the HPS does, the amount of light usable by the plant is equal or probably higher with the fluorescents. You may wish to experiment to see if adding a single cool white CFL to replace one warm white results in shorter, stouter stems and more vigorous growth. The reasoning is that warm whites don't emit much blue light, which the plants use for photosynthesis and to regulate their growth. The cool white bulb supplies the blue light.

My call for your unit would be to use several (three to five) CFLs with a total input of between 120-160 watts. Although the 150 watt HPS is a bit more efficient that the CFLs in total output, watt for watt the fluorescents provide as much useful light as the HPS lamp. Heat is another consideration. The HPS runs much hotter and emits more heat than the fluoescents. "
