First grow propagation and 2 week veg room

On the go in my new system are 4x white widow x skunk#1 , 2x sage n sour, 2x darkstar
5 popped, waiting on 3, day 5 from seed in rockwool.

This is my DIY cupboard design I set up for my first grow, I actually designed it with a perpetual grow in mind. I bought another unit which is like a portable tool cabinet and modified that into a 2nd veg/flower/dry space, I will post pictures of it later (it's already set up and waiting, although the carbon filter is at the bottom right now and I'm contemplating wether it is efficient like that, as the space is limited I'd rather a smaller carbon filter at the top, but that is the one my hydro shop had, and I can't be bothered to make a smaller one, so I'll try it out my first grow and see how it goes).

This cupboard was designed to go from seed/clone to about the 2nd/3rd week of veg for first grow, and on future grow to keep plants in veg till my 2nd space is available. I also allowed a side space at the bottom part of the closet where I plan to put some mothers in individual dwc buckets (still need to buy or make) as the bottom system is a dwc and obviously different nutes for newly rooted clones, mothers and new plants etc.

Light is an 80watt cfl
40 litre box, 14 plant dwc, pump attached to piping that hits middle section of box and sprays outwards to pots, double air stone.
CPU extraction fan and intake fan
have three small fans ready also for airflow but have not mounted as yet.

considering installing a 2nd cfl for future grows but I'm also looking at a veg led some time next year after Christmas and holidays etc. so don't want to jump into buying extra lighting if it's just going to waste money and 80watt cfl is sufficient for now I believe (any opinions? Keep in mind this space is only a pre-veg space going into a 1 week mh 400watt veg before switching 12/12), my idea is to actually keep mother plants small in this space so I don't see the advantage of wasting power on more lights if it's not needed. Although if my other space just ends up being flower only then that's why I was considering led.

either way I think I've prepared a pretty decent system to grow 4-6 plants perpetually, and try out a few other strains on future grows.

I have a batch of seeds on order from a companies Christmas promo (loads of freebies), and would appreciate some help. My seeds so far are below, anyone have some advice about some good combinations with similar timing that would offer a sativa up for daytime and an indica chill for afternoon/night or whiling away days off, also some which are easy to grow without to many issues as after all I'm only just starting my first grow.

if your talking about this space:

I don't plan to flower in this space, and while some strains during veg do have some smell apparently, it is not overwhelming or noticeable (feel free to post some links if I'm mistaken on this point). At maximum this space would in the future contain two mother plants (bonsai size), 8-12 clones, and 4-8 plants in veg, before moving to my flowering space (which yes, does contain a carbon filter). Here is a photo of my 400w veg/flower space, the light and ballast is compatible for both with 2 different bulbs.

If your referring to my other space look at the photo I attached the carbon filter runs through the cool tube and then out the exhaust, so it is still circulating out the hot air and smell just not as effectively as it could as if it were at the top. I have read many circumstances of people having to floor mount cf as they were in a big space and they were to large to mount to the roof. While I know that is not my case when I was putting this together the width and the size of the filter realistically didn't fit well. I tried to ask store if they could get a smaller one, but unfortunately they said due to government in Australia passing new laws for my state, they were no longer able to order cf to their shop (the one they sold me was remaining stock), and being in Australia I refuse to send anything to my house (we can order stuff online to an address from other states that can sell these items), friends are not an option as I don't want anyone to know im growing, hence having to use what is on hand or available (I may end up making one as im pretty handy at DIY, but for now I just want to try out a grow).

I will be buying a house in the future and I have plans for two tent system running leds and have a 8-10 plant perpetual grow with a 3rd tent dedicated to breeding purposes but that is some time away yet and not currently and option at this house.

really sexy setup dude, so when you run perpetual make sure the roots arent tangled cause if you chop one the roots will die if they're tangled with others and then rot and fuck things up

Thanks Nizza

I just realized after reading your post that due to the difference in net pot size transferring the actual plants from this system to the other with larger net pots was not going to be ideal if roots are tangled. After considering it a bit I'm thinking instead I can adjust my dripper system on other box to be detachable and inter connectable between both systems (this just involves changing the dripper line system and perhaps reworking some of the lines).

Once I changed the dripper system to be interchangeable I can drain the water from the cupboard system into my 20Litre container, transfer that to my reservoir for flowering system (using the same water that they are currently in would mean no difference in water temp, nutes etc and I think this would encourage a more stable environment on the move, if they are going to spend a few more weeks in veg under the 400w), carry the box now empty of water to my other system then simply exchange the lids and attach the dripper system (both boxes are the same size as well as lids).
I could then wash the box out and clean the cupboard grow space before putting the six pot larger net pot lid into the cupboard, filling and moving my clones/seeds into it.

Rinse repeat over and over…

I highly doubt there would be any damage to roots by lifting the lid off one box and placing it directly onto the other

What do you think? Would that basically solve that issue…

Only negative I could see to this would be that every 2[SUP]nd[/SUP]

grow id be limited to 6 plants in cupboard space, but honestly I was only planning on flowering 4-6 at one time since the size of that flower room really does not warrant more

(I’d also like to scrog, so that fills a space like that easily with only 1 plant if you want)

I have been scouting for a suitable outdoor grow spot for this time next year to have a few outdoor strains and a broader sativa selection anyway, as well as some more time growing this plant under my belt (soil is where I’ve got a lot of experience anyway but never with cannabis).

So I spent all afternoon at both the hardware shop and fixing my dwc box, it now just disconnects from a 13mm hose that I can connect to the other box, and vice versa. I also put four little seedlings in that have sprouted, out of the 8 I germinated, there is a 5th but I moved it to soil and am going to go plant it outside later on just as an experiment for the spot I found.

Here are some pictures, the girls are very small still as this is only first week since they broke out of the soil and first day in the dwc box.

I added a Northern lights and 2 Ice to the propagator as I'm hoping to get at least 6 plants on the go, ill probably keep any decent girls above this in veg cycle or chop any that aren't performing to well.

very cool! did you just make a space in a room corner with plastic for your propagation chamber?
Sorry if my question is noob but how do you plan to get your flower light closer to your plants? it seems really high for if you were to just put them in

I have spare panda film if I can bother to put that in the top part of my growing closet where the propagation unit is but the walls are white anyway so decent enough reflection for propagation only, it is just the top shelf of the closet that they are sitting on.

No question is not silly, the lights are on roller hooks so they can be raised or lowered as needed (the light is sitting higher cause I was working on the water system for the box and installing the Carbon filter and netting and the damn thing was banging into my head when it was lowered everytime I stood up, haha), in the flowering cabinet the netting is now dropped down lower to about 8 inches from pots as I am planning to do a scrog but its also adjustable so I will possibly raise it higher for other grows. The only issue I have with the light at the moment is that the extractor fan on the side is kinda getting in the way of putting it lower than about 2 foot above the plants, so Im rethinking the design but have not decided on a final solution as yet as the space is limited, also waiting to test it out as it on first grow cause if it aint broke don't fix it, haha.
