I'm going to start buying the equipment and prepping a 2x4x8 closet to grow in. I've been around this fourm lurking for several months, and just want to get a little feedback to know if I'm on the right path. I plan to start this next weekend with ventilation and lighting. I'll buy the pieces for vent/lights this week as soon as I'm comfortable I'm on the right path... hence this post.
A general run down: I'm thinking a 18gal roughneck with two 5" netpots. I was going to go with a rena air 300 pump and a few eco plus round air stones. I plan to line the closet with mylar rather than buy a tent as it seems less expensive for now. I'd go with the general hydroponic 3 part nutrient pack thing and go with some tahoe og fem seeds from cali connect and do a scrog of some sort. My goal is to come out with 5 oz from the two plants (if possible) considering this is my first grow... but really I just want to do it right the first time most of all.
1) I was thinking to go the passive intake route and make 3 four inch holes toward the bottom of the door itself (covered with something to block light). It turns out there is a vent coming out of the roof only a few feet away from the ceiling of the closet (guessing I can use that) - so i was going to make an apx 6" hole in the ceiling of the closet, use a 6" canon fan and filter from hid hut and run the ducting those few feet to the vent in the roof. In addition there would be a couple of small fans on the walls. Does this sound right?
2) As far as lighting: I was thinking to do a 400w mh/hps bulb and ballast, cool tube reflector also from hid hut.
Is there anything else I need to take into consideration as far as the ventilation or lighting?
Should I step it up to 600w?
I really want to do this right from the start so I run into as few problems possible and come out with the best fire I can.
