First grow

What's up people? I'm well into my first grow and just want to show everyone what I'm working with and take in any advice you all might have to share. This grow has been completely thrown together but I believe it's been progressing greatly and I think I'll be happy with the results.

I had a few seeds from bags over the years and decided to pop two of them and try my hand at growing. I started them in paper towels, then threw them in small pots outside after they popped. After a few weeks of neglect I decided to bring them inside and see what I could really get out of them. I transplanted them into five gallon pails with holes drilled in the bottom filled with 50/50 ffof and happy frog, and put them under a hand me down 400w mh light under an 18/6 light schedule.

After a few weeks of good growth, one plant showed that it was female, indicating that it was an autoflower. I started lst on both plants and let them go a few more weeks. I ended up ordering a 4x4 tent, inline fan, and carbon filter. When the tent arrived I switched the bulb to hps to promote good bud growth on the auto.

I let them go a while longer without changing much in the grow environment. The plant that ended up being a photo absolutely exploded. I transplanted it into a 7 gal fabric pot while keeping the auto in the 5 gal pail. Just a few weeks ago I spotted female preflowers on it. I ended up buying a 650w vivosun light for the tent and it covers it so much better.

I'm now at day 73 from seed and both plants are doing pretty well. The auto looks super healthy and I think I'm getting pretty close to harvest. The photo has almost completely overtaken the whole 4x4 tent despite a period of underwatering and now what I believe is a magnesium deficiency. I gave think I overfed nitrogen which caused it but I'm debating feeding some calmag if it doesn't improve after a few more plain waterings.

I'm checking my water ph and using ff nutrients. Still running at 18/6 light schedule with my new led light at 75% intensity. I know there's so many details I haven't added, but if anyone has any advice to improve the rest of my grow, I would greatly appreciate it. I'll add a few pics and let me know what you think! Thanks everyone! I've learned so much from all of you!

Also, a question I have for the more experienced. I didn't plan to veg this photo plant this long but wanted to get the most that I could out of the auto, so I left the lights at 18/6. Now that it's gotten so big, i need to water about 1.5 gal daily just to get a bit of runoff and it still seems to start drooping before I water again. The pot does feel very light before I water so I don't think I'm over doing it. I know it'll grow quite a bit after I flip the lights. Is the 7 gal enough to sustain this plant or do I need to go bigger?

Looking good. You should be able to finish her in that container. It wont hurt to really saturate the soil every now and then. She is a big girl.
If I were in your shoes, I would take a dozen cuttings of her and make clones. Buy an inexpensive seedling dome that comes with led lights. Thats what ive been using. I have it sitting in my kitchen. I throw a cloth over the whole thing at night, and leave the lights on 24/7 while they root.

Thanks for the tips! I actually do have a half dozen clippings going right now. I took two tops off that were getting tall in the middle, and it felt like a waste to just toss them so I decided to try to keep them going. I also took a few from the lower branches. I'm trying a little experiment to see what works best. I have four clippings in solo cups with soil, and two in straight ph'd water. I used clonex on three of the soil ones and one water, and also tried aloe on one in soil and one in water. I had read somewhere that aloe is an option, and my wife has an aloe plant, so I figured why not. The two in water seem to be doing the best, while the two tops aren't looking so great. I also left them way too big so I think that's the main problem. It's only been a few days so we'll see if they pull through. I plan on giving whatever survives to a friend and then getting some back from him when I'm finished with this plant. I'd like to keep it going in case it turns out to be a killer strain.

I'd like to run four plants at a shorter veg time on my next run, so I think if I keep some now they would probably be too big by the time this plant finishes. How long do you usually veg your clones before flipping the lights?
