First newcomer's questions on how many plants and setup location...!

Well, as some of you already know I'm relatively new to cannabis in general and I'm totally new to growing. In fact I've never grown a thing in my entire life. All I knew and have done about growing was watering the plants. Having said this I must to admit that every time my wife goes away for a longer time a plant or two in our house tend to die . So please be kind and patient with me.

How many plants is enough:

As I mentioned in my introduction thread I'm starting this venture as I hobby with a goal just to grow to satisfy my need for premium quality herbs. I just want to experiment with different types of strains, growing techniques, etc. and have my own product grown and taken care of with love.

How much do I smoke? I'm not dependent from it medically. I don't have to take marijuana every day for pain or sleep or anything of this sort. I'm more of a recreational user. Usually I charge my Arizer Air after work when I sit down to watch a movie or a TV show. No more than 2-3 evenings per week. If I have a long evening I usually consume 1.5-2 gr. of dry herb. Keeping in mind that my sons visit us from time to time my generous calculation is that I'll need to have 1gr per day to keep me going from harvest to harvest.

Question No 1: How many plants would realistically bring me enough yield? Based on this information I'd start to construct the actual setup. Otherwise I will overspend as I usually do in my other activities.

Setup location:

We have an old, poorly maintained 17 x 8 square feet shed at the back of our garden. Unfortunately this old thing is very damp and has a lot of mold in it. Anything you put in there gets covered in fungus over a few weeks time. But it has good electric wiring and enough space for separate rooms for vegging and budding. Plus I would be able to bring exhaust and intake ducts outside.

Question No 2: I assume damp and mold is not an ideal environment for happy and healthy marijuana babies. Am I right with this assumption? If yes, then the only option left is a grow tent inside the house which obviously is gonna be much trickier.

Thank you for your time.

#1. You really should go off lights than plant count. For example a 1000w light is capable of producing 2# per light when you have everything dialed in and know what you are doing. I would say go with at least 1 1000w because it leaves a lot of room for mistakes and still be able to pull the amount you are looking for.

#2. You would have to bleach the hell out of that shed and do some work to insulate and seal it up. Imo growing in a whole room is 100% better than a tent. More space and easier to control the environment. I personally wouldn't grow in a tent, the only thing I use them for is clones.
