first plant, not to sure though

hey all you guys, im thinking about growing my own plant in my yard, and was wondering is it as complicated as what i think it is ? from what im reading there is so many steps in getting a good smokable plant. can i just put it in my backyard (hidden away of course) ?? and what should i do to the soil before i plant it ? and what are your methods for drying it all ? i cant just put it in the sun cause of neighbours and people coming over, and cant put it in my house because i live with my mother and she would not be to happy with that ? so what are your opinions on drying it without people seeing and still working well ?

sarcasm ? who can help me with my drying and harvesting problem ?
No, not sarcasm. I live on a small farm, and the first plant ever grew, sprouted from a seed I threw on some tilled land. I was surprised to find a small sprout 2 weeks later when I was planting tomatoes.

and for curing and drying;
Hang your buds in a cool dark place, until the outside of the buds are crisp, check them every day. Make sure you only hang them long enough for the outside to dry, The stem should still have moister so you can bend it without it snapping in half.Once you did that put your buds in a pickle jar, for about 2 or 3 days, burp the jar every 12 hours. Keep the buds in the jar until the outside of the buds are moist again.

thanks for the help, but my problem is doing that without people seeing, like where could i do that if i still live with family ? we have a shed that noone goes in anymore but thats dark and has no ventilation and would be risky for people to go in the once in awhile. could i hang them in a cupboard ? is that good enough sun or ventilation ?

Depending on how crazy ya wanna get with it...lol you could make a rubbermaid bin dryer. Take a rubbermaid bin and cut a hole in the side near the bottom to screw a computer fan onto. (Take a computer fan and attach it to an old cell phone charger.) Mount the fan blowing out (I'm guessing) and maybe blowing through a little homemade DIY carbon filter or dryer sheets...hell anything to cover up the smell coming out really. Then make a couple 1 inch holes on the opposite top side for air to flow in. Then just hang some strings in there going horizontally across the top to hang the nugs from and plop the lid on and plug it in. Quiet, dark, and can be stashed somewhere and look inconspicuous. ::shrug:: =)

Sounds like you either need to wait a while or start doing some research on stealth grows. There are lots of grow journals and other threads with fantastic pictures which will help you if you decide to do an indoor stealth grow. The smell can be controlled if you take all the right precautions, as can the noise.

Expect to run into numerous problems while going through your first grow, and don't expect too much product at the end unless you're gonna go ahead with your outdoor idea and have a nice tall, bushy plant. Seems like that could be very difficult to hide.

Also don't forget that some plants absolutely stink during the final couple of weeks, and an outdoor plant's scent can waft through neighbouring gardens - I've seen it and done it.

Have you looked at any of the PC-case grows detailed on this forum? Some are really pretty good and can yield surprising amounts. There's no reason why you can't use all the same principles of those but in a larger container which you can hide neatly in the corner of your bedroom or something.

Good luck.

You dont have to do it in your backyard if your so worried. If your ment to grow marijuana then your ment too. If not, then you should just keep buying from dealers.

If you decide to get into it and look at some ways to increase your yeild I have a SCROG method at my page with a few other tutorials on how to do stuff.

Keep in touch.
Peace.
