First time Ever Grow Hydro

Closet grow using ebb and flow Microgarden system with Botanicare products. Pretty simple setup if I'm doing it right. Using a 400 watt HID light running 18/6. Flooding the tray for 30 mins every 6 hours. The plants been in this system for 11 days. Bagweed seeds germinated and sprouted in about a week before I put them in system. Let me know if they are looking healthy or tell me what you see wrong. Will place some dry ice in there for CO2 this weekend. How often do I need to change the water and do I ever need to run just ph water without nutes and for how long? Thanks guys for all your tips, tricks and help!

Yes just ph the water, but you have to see how often to do it. If I were you I would change the water at least every 7 days to start. Once they get bigger you can push that further like every 10-14 days, but I wouldn't go much beyond that.

So should I only run ph water without nutes or just between nutes? Are they still to young for nutes, I guess is what i'm asking?

You could do real weak nute solution. Just watch the fairly closely. A little burning isn't a huge deal, but just take it slow. I don't know much about concentrations on that particular nute line, but they look old enough to get a little nutes. Less is more.

Hey OldLuck, it's looking pretty good. First things first, have you checked her roots yet? How are they looking? Just like shufflebotlmfaosaid it's mostly the roots that are important. But lowering the lights is always a good thing. From what you've told me the first time around it seems like your temps are fine, but the fan leaves look just a bit yellowed. How much nutes are you given the babies?

Not sure what bad roots look like but there was quite a few breaking the medium. None of them look dark or sick and they all looked the same.

are you in rockwool or soil? if soil you wont need nutes for prob the first 2-3 weeks. always ckeck your ph. do you have a PPM meter, i start my babies around 250 ppm to start the greadually raise it, you def wanna under nute rather them over for your first few grows till you get used to it. i mix 2.5 gallons of water and less then recomended nutes, keeping the ph always under 6.3. if your using rockwool, youll be using nutes everytime you water, just make a big batch to last a week or so, i always airate my water while its sitting around, not sure if thats necessary or not. your basically playing god with the lights, food, everything. get a small fan to blow the plants to develope strong stems. i would still lower the lights, if they are too high up, they plants will stretch up towards the light and get all linky and weak, i lower it as far as possible, i measure it by keeping my hand above the top of the plant, if its extra warm or hot, raise it up a lil. i have my lights about 8-12 inches above. with small lights like CFL's, i have em like 6 inches away.
