First time flowering and i believe i am close to harvesting..

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME GROWING ALL THE WAY THROUGH UNTIL FLOWERING, I NEED HELP TO SEE IF THEY ARE READY TO HARVEST....MOST OF THE HAIRS ALMOST ALL ARE BROWN, BUT THE PLANT STILL LOOKS HEALTHY. DO I WAIT UNTIL IT STARTS TO DIE OR UNTIL ALL THE LEAVES TURN YELLOW? I HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD AND I DO NOT WANT TO HARVEST EARLY. THE PURPLE POWER IS ALREADY EIGHT WEEKS GOING ON 9 WEEKS. SAME WITH THE WHITE WIDOW, HEADBAND,EARLY GIRL, BUBBA KUSH, AFGOOEY, SUPER SILVER HAZE, AND LAMBS BREATH. THE SUPER SILVER DOES NOT LOOK READY TO ME YET, BUT THE PURPLE POWERS ARE FULL OF BROWN HAIRS AND THE BUDS LOOK FAT AND FEEL HEAVY, BUT AS I SAID BEFORE THEY STILL LOOK HEALTHY. I cant get good pics of them. I turn off the lights and the flash turns the buds all white, i leave the lights on and they are all orange.

If your girls are 8-9 weeks into it, they're probably getting pretty close. I saw a chart somewhere... gotta do some searching, be back in a bit.

Yeah, I wish that I could make my trichs that big in real life, would make judging a hell of a lot easier. So, what I did instead was put on my reading glasses AND used the jeweler's loupe! (It worked)

Nice pictures, SeaMaiden. I have one problem with Phix's pix, though. He says "the typical Sativa/Indica hybrid with a 7-8 week flowering period." I haven't seen any hybrids with a 7 week flowering period, and only a few of the Indica dominant strains that are completely ripe at 8 weeks. So there is nothing "typical" about an 8 week strain.

And what I have a problem with is the illustration says "Too Late" at what appears to be week 9, which is completely false. The window of optimum ripeness is several weeks long before senescence starts.

Well im having same problem and everyone says theres a thing i can get at radio shack and went up there and they don't have it but he said if i can get brand and model he could order it does anyone know what it is,i seen it somewhere but can't find it???

Mine's a Micronta, 30x, but I don't know where Dave bought it. Here's the first thing I found. Looks like it could totally work.

I can view my trichomes without a microscope. My Nikon D80 can do the judging.

This is good to have.. "reconfirmed" for me. As it seems that going just by the pistil color mine were finished literally weeks ago. But I don't think so. So it's not unusual to have a plant that needs 10 weeks or more to finish (grown outdoors)?

My Pistils always go orange way earlier than my buds need to be picked. My white widow is 8 weeks to the day and done though.

i know what you mean SeaMaiden.... trying to look and squint.... I can stand there for a good 20-30m just trying to make a judgement call. lol. I saw this AMAZING thing at Radio Shack the other day though. it was like an oversized jewleers look with like 100x magnification. but it was like bigger than a 50cent piece. I asked the guy if they sold them, but he said no... which made me wonder why the fuck there was a huge magnifying loupe just sitting on the table, but this reminded me to look into finding one of those. this thing was like the size of a fist and would certainly make looking without squinting easy
