First time grow need help-

Ok so I'm a few weeks into my first grow. I don't have a camera right now so unfortunately I can't take any pics for u guys.
But basically I have 6 seedlings right now;
one is bagseed at about 2 weeks old- it has just started its set of 4 leaves after the first 2 sets of true leaves (you know what i'm talkin about the 4 leaves that grow out in an X shape)
The other 5 are a strain called Rocklock (Rockstar X Warlock) and are about 11 days old- all of them are working on their second set of true leaves.
My setup is a small stealth op in my apartment, I have 2 42W CFLs about 4-6 inches from the plants , a heating pad to help with the cold weather and a fan blowing constantly. I'm using some generic soil that doesn't have any nutrients, mixed with about 40% vermiculite, and I water the plants usually every or every other day.
In the last few days my plants seem to have slowed down a lot in growing. They are stretching a little bit, but I really can't find any better lighting equipment around where I live so I'm trying to make do with what I got.

The growing space is about 10" x 20" by 2 ft tall. Going to try to start 12/12 lighting soon, maybe in about a week to keep the plants small and make the grow faster. I realize this will realy hurt my yield but I don't have the space to grow full plants anyway. I'm planning on eventually cutting it down to 1-2 plants once they show their sex and I need to transplant to bigger pots.

Point is, are 2 42W CFLs going to be enough light in a small space like this? Also, I'm really confused about nutrients.
Should I just buy some kind of liquid nutrients at a gardening store and mix them in with the water every week or so?
I'm really confused about nutrients/fertalizers etc and I've read all the FAQs and stuff but just can't really seem to grasp what I'm supposed to do with that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated- thanks!:leaf:

hey :)

the cfls are fine (but understand that your harvest will be smaller than a good portion of the harvests on the site, as they are grown with HPS. that being said -- keep your plant as close to the cfl bulb as possible -- especially since you have a fan really close by.

as far as nuting goes, fertilizers use what is called an NPK rating which is shown as 14/20/20 -- which mean Nitrogen content is 14, Phosphorus is 20, and Potassium is also 20. for veg you want higher first number (Nitrogen) and for flower you want higher last two numbers (Phos and Potas).

And you can get any type of fertilizer -- i personally use miracle grow bloom booster and miracle grow miracid.

you want to use HALF of their suggested does (half tablespoon/gallon) -- i would start off at a quarter dose for the first 2 feedings, then go to the half dose and stay there (or atleast, ive had success with this method).

good luck, and post if you have any more questions.
