First Time medical grow Room Setup

Looking to get ideas on a scratch design for medical user. My dad is getting his medical card in Colorado and I will build the place where it is setup. Any size is available, an unfinished upper room has up to 8 ft X 8 ft but I will close off to about 4 ft by 4 ft. Any height is available, but i was going to do dropped ceiling down to 6 to 8 feet and then run vents / fans / mechanical / electrical in the upper false ceiling room. Any lighting system is considered. He is worried about power consumption, so LEDs are on the table, but if 1000 W HPS will yield enough to last a year and will cost half of an LED setup, then that would be the way I would lean. CFL and T-5 are likely to be the starting point for lighting though as only 4 or so plants will be grown. With a 4 X 4 ft area, and assume 1000 W, what would be the per crop yield of a normal variety like NYCD or Afghan Kush / OG Kush?


I would really like if someone would give all supplies that would be needed to be operational (fans, lights, estimated wattage for entire setup during flower stage).

600W will cover that space and also give you the most output per Watt so to speak, I would go for T5HOs and a 600W HPS with a cool hood but thats just me, got a similar set up with a 6" vent and filter on and a few fans as well ..
