first time starting a small hydro system using a tote tub.

hey ya'll. total newbie here. was wanting to know, i got the basics of what i need to start growing, but i'm a bit confused. i have those rockwool cubes and hydroton w/ netty pots. here are my questions, hopefully someone will be able to help out here:

1. in a 5 gallon tub, how much water do i need to put in?
2. when i germinate the seed, do i put it in the rockwool cube, root side down, surrounded by hydroton? or do i put the seed straight in the hydrotron?
3. when can i start giving the plant nutrients?

i'm a newbie to this, so any help that will get me started from step 1 would be extremely helpful and appreciated.

i hate to ask all of the questions, but i want to make sure i get everything right the first time. any and all help will be really helpful. thanks a bunch.

I've always been told that you plant the seed with root up and it will ' U " turn back into the cube, you should always start in the cube, hydroton will not support the sedd sufficiently, once the roots start to show thru the cube, place it into the net pot with pebbles, at first the water should just touch the bottom, once roots show and are abt 2 inch lower the solution a bit. that's how I understand it to be for DWC. I'm sure someone with more knowledge can best answer your question.

There are several ways to grow, you just need to figure out what works best for you.
