First Time Vac Purger!!

EzExtractions

Hey guys im just recently starting to dabble into butane extractions, have been doing solvent based extractions for a little over a year now but was a little nervous to try butane (with all the explosions and shit happening it was starting to scare me) but after talkin with alot of people and realizing its relatively safe to perform an extraction as long as its outdoors i decided to give it a shot. Well i just ordered a small vac chamber and pump. Thing pulls and holds a solid 29 Hg vacuum.

Ok so this is what i got going on today.

packed 2 glass extractor tubes full of coarsely grind-ed bud (approximately 12g between both tubes) and put them in the freezer over night.

Next morning i take them out and run about 8 oz of butane (total) through the tubes, into the same pyrex dish. Didnt use any heat for initial evap, just let the butane boil off at room temp.

After all butane has evaporated i bring the Pyrex dish inside and put it ontop of my electric griddle for 10-15 minutes.

While that is going on i go and preheat my oven at the lowest temp it will go which is 170*F. after the oven pre heated, i shut it off, then took my pyrex dish with oil on it, and stuck it in the oven to help purge.

Its been in there for about an hour now. Can i scrape it up now, put it on an oil slick pad, and then throw it in the vac chamber? or should i let it just heat evap some more while its all thinned out on the pyrex dish before i scrap up?

Any help would be great thank you!

lol, who da hell uses an oven before vacuuming>? where the eff did you hear that? can you send me the link?

i think you are fucked. i dunno. here is my explanation..

after i spray, i have a pool of butane oil, i throw that onto my griddle, which is set at 150F.. i also put a fan blowing over the oil to help it not pool aound, and boil off faster..

once the pool is gone, and the gooey liquid stuff starts to appear, i take pyrex off heat, keep it under fan, and let it get stable at room temp ( approx 62-72F) less than an hour to go from pool, to stable..

once stable, i throw straight into my vacuum.. and go from there.. no oven, no heat, i try to achieve muffin..

i feel when i add heat too early, i fuck up my process. im not positive though, i just have had many fuck ups because of heat..

i have never tried it oven before hand.. 170F seems high though, i would go no higher than 140 in oven.. .. if you are really curious about this stuff, check out my my how i wax, if you havent.. you could waste a couple hrs gaining info if you wanted..

lol thank you for telling me im fucked :) like i said im a first time vac purger, before i got the vac set up i was purging in the oven. Sorry dude ill try it your way next time , sorry if i upset you

lolll, you havent upset me, not yet, your fails dont upset me, the make me curious, keep trying, but try to avoid making the same repetitive mistakes! good luck!

You can cut out some steps. If you set your collection pan in hot tap water, the butane will evaporate away without the griddle. Not necessary to stick in the oven, as you can go directly into the vacuum chamber at that point.

You can turn it into shatter, simply by vacuuming it in a thin film at a low enough temperature and high enough vacuum, that the bubbles are just able to break the surface and dissipate. We use 115F for our typical strains.

As soon as the random sized solvent bubbles stop appearing and only the fizzy CO2 bubbles are present, remove it from the chamber and let cool.

Temperatures as hot as 170F will decarboxylate the oil and it will be softer, as well as less aromatic.

You will gain soo much dropping your temp to 115!

Heres some bho i made, it was also my first time ever vac purging.

This was a run of mixed nugs, unsure of the amount used. Vac purged for over 10 hours! Came out like a organic peanut butter texture, looks oily , a little sticky, very tastey!

Now heres some of that half shatter half wax stuff i posted a few days ago, i threw it in the vac just to see what it would do and i surprisingly got alot of bubbles out of it, and most of it eventually waxed up on me, no whipping involved.

yo! nice colour!

what temps did you use? and full vac?

thanks im not sure of the temps, my IR thermometer yet but the slick pad inside the chamber was just warm enough, like i could press my finger down on it with alot of pressure with out burning myfinger.

I used a full vac, the chamber i use is very small, the vac builds in like 30-45 seconds and holds at a steady 29.9Hg. I left it like that all day for like 10 hours, which is why i think i got this consitency. I have vector coming in as well, with 6g freezing up in a tube right now so ill have some more pics soon! thanks
